Hey guys, been to Vegas twice before. Stayed in the Excalibur and the Luxor.

Thinking of heading back there this year and the choice for hotels for 5 nights is between

New York, New York £590ish
MGM £640ish
Bellagio £720ish

All including flights as well as the 5 nights in the hotel.

Anyone stayed in any of these and would recomend one over the other?

Im inclined toward the MGM as I prefer that side of the strip, nice big place and seems pretty smart when I have spent time in there. New York has a few good bars but has never struck me as the nicest of the hotels and the Bellagio is probably a little to upmarket for a gang of lads from Newcastle who just want to get trolleyed all day with a bit of gambling thrown in :p

So any Vegas trippers who can lend a hand with recomendations?

Ta

get a cheap apartment/suite and spend the rest on fun while there. I just had a few nights in the Encore, lovely hotel but total waste of money. You are only in the room 8 hours a day, if that.

Platinum Suites off strip are supposed to be great...

By staying mid week I am pretty much about to book New York New York for 3 nights for a grand total of £120. With this in mind £600 sounds.. extortionate.

MGM Varies, Bellagio is ok but to be honest it is crap for a 5 star hotel. Stayed in many 4 stars that are much nicer.

Never stayed in New York New York but it looks at bit of a dive

We are paying for an extra 2 nights and its over a weekend which is perhaps why it is that much more.

To be honest we can all afford any of the hotels, its not so much about the money more which hotels are worth the money im paying. If that makes sense? It does to me but I cant think of a way of wording it better :D

And about staying off the strip I would rather pay the money and be on the strip, like to be in where the action is rather than having to do any form of real travelling, even a 5-10min taxi ride as that starts taking organisation skills to get everyone together at the same time and I do too much organising at work so cant be bothered on my jollies :o

www.tripadvisor.com is your friend.

Take the star ratings with a pinch of salt and instead read all the reviews you can stomach and form your own opinion from that.

You can usually pick out the whingers who complain about nothing.

i stated at Bills Gambling Hall once. Was good for $60 a night.

Although i went the sahara once, was a complete dive but a week in vegas alone with a hire car and a few days in Phoenix cost me £600 (inc flight) so can't complain.

EDIT, was an awesome trip, £600 all in and even got upgraded to buisness class on the way back.

plenty of places on the strip at good prices though so why stay off strip. Now i would only stay somewhere between Belagio and Treasure Island.

If you are spending a lot of time in your room in Vegas its epic fail.

I hardly seen my room last time. Generally slept between 5am to about 11 then went down to the pool and had a couple more hours kip down there before starting again.

MGM is ok, rooms are pretty average but you get a nice big window facing whichever way you're lucky to get (we were facing the end of the stirip (Exaclibur) and the airport. As a resort it is really nice, the pool area is huge and there are loads of nice bars and restaurants and I think it has the largest casino. Also hosts the KA show which was amazing.

Bellagio would be really nice, specially if you get a room with a fountain view! As you prob know the hotel, lobby etc is amazing.

New York New York would be my third choice but only because I don't think it is that nice of a place compared to the others.

Fox really dont do it.

Its like taking a 1.4 Golf down to the nurburgring. It is really worth paying the extra to stay in a good hotel.

I am a big fan of the trum towers

but Winn / encore is very nice as is the venetian.

FYI you can get the rooms in the MGM very cheap if you join a gambling club and book via them. But to be honest the MGM is crap.

There are also so good discount codes that are sold on ebay

I stayed at the MGM Signature a couple of years ago but that was for a very special occasion and is Suites only so a bit more moolah, but was worth the extra money. Me and the gf had full use of the whole MGM complex and bejesus it was massive. One night we watched Ka which I can highly recommend. The MGM is in an ideal spot on the strip. NYNY is directly opposite MGM so again it's a good spot on the strip. The Bellagio just looked full of pozy poncers to me flashing the cash.

OP £640 for MGM all in sounds a good deal, but what time of year is that. I quite fancy some of that myself, I'd go out to Vegas on the drop of a hat and play some Poker.

Bellagio is by far the best of the3 you listed

but as suggested look at the Platinum, I use it regularly now
