I now have a proper desk and have room for one, are they worthwhile?

Have been using my Logitech G9 on the desk surface for the last few years and the veneer worn off the desk where the mouse was used and had black "skid marks" from the mouse feet. Was a cheap desk though.

Do they offer any "immediate" improvements?

If so, any recommendations?

Hard, Soft?

I was looking at the Boogie Pad XL - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-000-BB&tool=3

Thoughts please?

Thank you.

+1 for the boogie bug, absolutely massive though, i can fit my g15 rev 1 keyboard on it as well, us a logitech g500 mouse on it and it runs super smooth.

Old mat beside it for comparison.

Did you guys get the wrist band with it to? If so, I am sold :)

I like the idea of it covering the whole desk, would protect the desk as well - lol.

My only concern is that I do believe you get what you pay for, how is this thing soo big for soo little compared to other mats?

I don't remember. :o If I did it probably went in the bin or something.

Yeah, I like it a lot it. Mainly because I move my keyboard around a lot and it doesn't get snagged on the mouse mat anymore. :p

I wouldn't be worried. :) Had mine well over a year a few months now and little signs of any concerning wear.

In comparison, the mat I had before it was a Razer Goliathus, about a third of the size for a few pounds more. That started de-laminating around where my watch on my mouse wrist caught on it's edge within a few months

My boogie bug doesn't even have a slight curling there. :)

Edit: Dug this old photo out for you. Size comparison with a QPad XL and a Goliathus. :)

Get the Boogie XL mat, my mouse just glides over it gloriously.
It's also very very big, enough to cover your whole desk. Cleaning is also very easy, just wipe it with a soft or wet cloth or shake it.

I got it with the Razer Deathadder for free at Christmas, could'nt be happier.

I'll do a combo breaker and recommend the Everglide Titan.

So smooth and really, what's the point of having such a huge mat like that? :p

I can't recommend the Boogie Pad. :(

Mine was such a dust magnet. It also had far too much resistance compared to my bare desktop and made playing games a chore. In common with several pics on these forums, it also had an annoying curl in one corner that refused to flatten out. It also felt rather nasty to the touch.

ive used plenty and found the everglide titan was just a step above in terms of quality.

i would go as far as to say its the rolls royce of mousepads.

Steelseries steelpad for hard. Razer goliathus for soft.

Both are great pads, but suit different styles - atm I prefer cloth pads (ie the Razer) :)
