Stupidity at its worst. Halal only outlets discriminate against non-muslims.

Has anyone asked the mayor, why all stores aren't forced to sell halal and kosher food as well instead of it being a one-sided affair?

I think this is indicative of a worrying movement where people are willing to infringe on the liberties of the minority (indirectly their own liberty) in Europe.

Roubaix is a town of 100,000. I doubt in the UK you could find a town where the mayor can get away with such nonsense.

Bet the muslims in the town liked it.

How can Halal only outlets discriminate against non muslims? You don't have to be a muslim to eat Halal meat.

Hey, im as right wing as the next guy, but how is it discrimination? They arent saying its a muslim only restaraunt, most of you have probably eaten halal and wouldnt know the difference - its just a different method of slaughter, and unlike kosher, doesnt leave the food tasting like sawdust.

Why can't the restaurant have a special halal burger for Muslims, and have normal burgers for everyone else?

I don't understand what you're getting at with this article? For a start they're banning bacon from their chain of restaurants, which is wrong. There can also be other factors involved such as the local pig farming economies.

But ignoring that it's a mayor going out on one, if that's their customers want then the food chain should be at liberty to do what they want with their product, even if it is discriminatory. If the locals wrote to the mayor and he's taking action on their wishes i find it just democracy actualy working for once.

There are many restaurants all over the place that specialise in one type of food, sushi, steak, fish etc. Why the **** can't there be a restaurant that specialises in halal food?

Mindless anti-Muslim hate really does confuse me. It's like saying all Catholics are peadophiles...

It's Quick lol, the French attempt at McDonalds. Not a speciality food outlet.

They've just stopped selling bacon. Don't know why you had to use the word ban. Secondly, why is it wrong? Must they sell all type of meat all of a sudden?

Its as discriminatory as a vegetarian restaurant not selling meat.

Maybe they decided it wasn't worth the bother and was easier just to source all their meat from one supplier? I certainly don't understand how having only halal meat is discrimination though as you don't need to be muslim to eat it.

Even if for some bizarre reason it was, its still not wrong.

It'd just be equal to muslims/jews not being able to eat from most normal outlets.

I can't stand Halal meat.

In the words of Lord Rooker, former Food and Farming minister and incumbent Chair of the Food Standards Agency: "I object to the method of slaughter ... my choice as a customer is that I would want to buy meat that has been looked after and slaughtered in the most humane way possible."

I don't see a problem with Halal only restaurants?

My local KFC recently turned halal, they still get customers from many religions, and now they even get muslim customers, so it's only a good thing for business.

What if I don't want to eat Halal burgers? Given that in France there aren't fast food burger joints every 10 yards like there is in say, California.

That was my attempt at a small joke as bacon is amazing, and yeah banning is the wrong word to use, although i suspect it's enforced quite strictly by the managment of the chain.

It is discriminatory as in it picks one or many groups of people out, not in a bad way in this case, but it's still a form of discrimination.

But i was more getting that there could be other factors at work in mayor's case. But i don't know, he's likely to be a xenophobic biggot who doesn't want anything changing in his town. But he's fired the first shot and now it's up to Quick to come up with a response, and france isn't quite as pandering to minorities as the UK.

Why can't Muslims get out of the UK if there going to cause so many problems in the UK!!!!!!!!!!

No rly, I kidd.
