Hey guys,

My first foray into portable audio, now that i've started commuting on the train :)

Bought the iPod 2nd hand from AndyBTSN and it's VERY good condition, if you you know ipods you'll know the rears scratch just by even looking at them:

The tin of mints is actually a CMOY amp reccomended by Electric ant in:

Custom built from america, took under a week to come even though it was over the new year! Sounds good, makes quite a nice difference, it's Very well made and nicely finished:

Now to the most special bit, the earphones!

Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10, triple driver in ear monitors

EXTREMELY good, I have a pair of beyer dynamic DT770 for home listening, and these blow them away! Good response all the way from low to crisp highs, and it's all tight! Even the ridiculously low bass extension is held nice and tight, makes listening to any well recorded music a dream :) Good sound isolation too, perfect for on the train! They are expensive at ~£200, but if you're using them every day, worth it! Replaceable leads too, so no worries about the most fragile part breaking :)

All in all, very happy with it all so far!

Excellent setup you've got there.

Now you just need to send your iPod in to get iModded, and upgrade that CMoy to a Ray Samuels Tomahawk. ;)

so basically the headphones are good? :p Ill probably still use the ipod unamped for the gym so i'll leave that be, and i cant justify £100+ quite yet on a headphone amp :p

The headphones are very good mate.. You also have some very nice upgrade options if you wish to upgrade in the future. Tis a nice setup.

Are the IEMs that good? I like my bass... are they bassy? I've never used any IEMs before... :o

they ave very good bass response....full AND tight! due to them having 3 drivers they can comfortably reproduce all the sound range without struggling, and tbh they have better bass than my DT770s that are RENOWNED for their bass! you can't feel it as much obviously as it's straight in your ear but my you cam hear every little (or big!) bass note

Gorgeous setup and great pics !!!!!!!!

I was thinking about er4ps, but didn't realise the tripple fi's were only £200

Must have, with tomahawk :D

O and if you want to hear the best bass in the world, then listen to a pair of DT770s that have been headphile modified. Ridiculously bloated bass, but theres soo much of it, it maes our brain resonate. Got the most smiles at the head-fi meet, as well as many, O TOO MUCH BASS. never has jungle sounded soo good.

I also have the triple.fi's, with my 2nd gen Zune and would love to try the amp, but does it really make any difference, especially for that low price, down to £25 delivered at the moment.

Have you tried the Olive's with the triple's yet, a bit messy, but they do improve the sound as well.

Very nice setup :D

For a 2nd hand iPod, the back is virtually scratch free which is amazing. I've had my iPod 5th gen for just over 2 years and although the back isn't hevily scratched, it's not as clean as yours :)

I have a pair of Triple.Fi's arriving tomorrow I hope and can't wait to try them out - cost me £184.99 inc VAT, which was a bit cheaper than anywhere else :)

Seriously - order one of the amps. For £25 they are a total bargain.
Costs more than that to buy the bits to make one yourself.

I got one of the penguin tinned ones myself. Didn't fancy the altoids tin as it's a pain in the arse shape.

Use it with my modified iAudio M3 *second replacment battey, hardwired remote and a hardwired lineout* and my SE530's and custom moulded sleeves from ACS. Sounds great.

The CMoy amps are brilliant. I built one because I fancied a challenge, and it was good fun - but for the price the pre-built ones are astonishing value.

Anyone recommend a seller on ebay for one of these amps? I'll be using them with some Grado SR60's, what am I looking for exactly?

Sorry for the thread hijack :p

BioScienceGeek.

The rG-tom got his from him and I got mine from him. Really quick service, really nicely made, choice of tins and will balance the output to match your headphones.

Whats the turnaround on those wee amps?

Ah, nevermind. Ordered one anyway :)

Now to find some decent phones!

He has no items on there atm, or do I mail him about ordering?
