Adobe Lightroom

Thanks for the heads up. I have used it since your thread about Lightroom. I absolutely love it, it makes working with RAW a breeze. Any idea of UK prices?

pretty sure i should be due a free copy , becuase of my rawshooter purchase :)

I'd be very suprised if that was the case. RS and Lightroom are two seperate products. Someone has to pay for the extra development - the peopl ethat buy the software.

Adobe has confirmed Lightroom will be given to owners of Raw Shooter Premium.

Free to RawShooter Premium owners
In a recent Lightroom forum post, Tom Hogarty, Adobe product manager for the application, notes that registered users of the now-defunct Pixmantec RawShooter Premium application will receive a full license of Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 at no charge:
The offer to provide Lightroom 1.0 free of charge to Pixmantec RawShooter Premium customers was disclosed via the FAQ on Pixmantec.com. (http://www.pixmantec.com/pdf/FAQ_Pixmantec.pdf) The offer still stands and Adobe will contact customers via the email address they used in the purchase process for RawShooter Premium. The program will begin the same day that Lightroom 1.0 ships but not before.
The tool to convert RSP settings to visually similar Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom settings is also in development and I hope to provide it at the same time. (Caveat: Visually similar does not mean identical given the difference in processing algorithms)

Hmmm.... very tempted to buy it when it come out. The £149 will be making the hole in my pocket worse but well..... only time will tell.

Actually the news on the new features in v1.0 look very good, and the beta was nice. If you have a widescreen monitor, this is a very good way to work. Just kind of hard for me to totally give up Photoshop after so long.... :p

Its not a program to compete with Photoshop. They are both very different programs or are you purely refering to ACR

If you look at the feature list, and all the latest colour adjustment stuff they added to the latest version (final), it has almost everything that I do in Photosphop. For non studio stuff I can do everything I need in lightroom, and I don't need to use bridge or breezebrowser.

Quite honestly, what is there in photoshop that you do on the normal photo (taken with care), that can't be done in some what in lightroom? This is my point.

Well that sounds very good esp combined with SDK's heal tool.. But I still have m any uses for photoshop.

I might think about getting this when its £149

I guess if you relyed on plugins in photoshop to get work done, then the migration to lightroom will be very difficult, but if you could do everything that you did in Photoshop manually (that is had an understanding of what was involved in the adjustments), it would not be too difficult to migrate to lightroom.

The new curves and colour adjustment tools in lightroom look fantastic, and I can't wait to try them out.

For sure the Sharpening and Noise removal tools have some way to go in Lightroom, but that's the only reason I would need to use Photoshop before printing an image.

Sounds good, might need to have a quick bash of the beta to try the workflow before it expires.

How's Lightroom for adding borders or text?

You can't add text or borders onto the image for file save in Lightroom; only for the on screen slideshow and print modules
