Adobe Lightroom

After just having a quick go, about 10 minutes long, first thoughts are i prefer aperture.

Arguably Lightroom runs better but Aperture just feels more intuitive to use and less cluttered, this may be don to short go i gave it.

Im gonna give it a good run through to see which one i like more later on.

Is there a thing like the Loupe in lightroom as i really liked this in aperture.

I am enjoying lightroom so far. However, I have noticed that the edit capture time functionality simply does not work when trying to change the capture times for non raw files (jpegs/tifs/etc). I even sometimes get errors if trying to do this, but mostly it has no effect. Unbelievable that this major issue has come through a year of beta testing!

Have any other RSE users followed the link in the email and got a serial number?

Space where the serial number should have been was blank for me...

In case anyone else had the same problem this is the reply regarding this problem from Adobe -

Thank you for contacting the Adobe Customer Service.

We experienced a technical issue and appreciate your patience while we
sort it out with our fulfillment system. A fix should be in place
within the next 24-48 business hours.

We have discovered a few workarounds that you might try:

1. Before clicking "Proceed to Download," refresh your browser window.
Multiple refreshes have proved successful.

2. Try using another web browser. Internet Explorer and Mozilla browsers
have worked for a number of customers.
If you receive a message indicating that your URL has already been used,
your account will be reset within the next 24 – 48 business hours and
you can try again then.

Another question.

Aperture has a backup facility called vault and its excellent. I can backup onto my system HDD and an external HDD with one click. I can see lightroom backsup but to the same folder as the main library. Can i set it up to backup in the same way Aperture allows me ?

Have given it a few more tries and i prefer Aperture. Sorry SDK^ :(

Aperture just feels more intuitive and easier.

I like the way everything is set out, i also like the amount of tutorials on the apple website which is extremely handy!

Still got like 25 days left so ill try to mix and match.

Hi..

I didn't want to create another Adobe Lightroom thread. I've been using the lightroom for couple of days now and really liking it atm.

I want to know couple of things which I can't find.

1. Can you apply sharpness? if so where is it located?

2. Can you resize the image and apply custom watermark?

thanks.

The sharpness slider can be found in the development module in the right pane about half way down. It's not very strong though.

Yes, you can re-size your image during the export process.

ah thanks for the reply. some of the options is not very clear but found the sharpening and the resize.

I can see buying myself the adobe lightroom after it expires.

I've been using LR for a while now and I've been very pleased with it. I must admit that I havn't used Aperature or RAWshooter so I've got nothing to compare it with. However, I've found all the tools easy to use and accessable and I do like the library function for organisation.

The sharpness and noise features are a bit useless but I usually import my favourite pictures into Photoshop for extra editing and it's here that I use NoiseNinja and sharpening actions so it doesn't bother me too much. I will be looking forward to the plugins as and when they are released.

C'mon SDK - you have missed a trick here, your Adobe paymasters will not be pleased ;)

The Lightroom 1.1 update seems to be good, so far i am really liking the sharpening improvements.

Aperture is prolly going to be retired now, just sort the Loupe and Adobe have it sewn up.
