X360 or PS3?

Know this has no doubt been discussed to the ground but im wondering in the long run would the 360 or the PS3 be more superior, valueable and more useful.

At the moment im right in saying the 360 is currently the one outperforming the PS3. But say in a year or so will the PS3 pull back as games haven't made full use of its SPC (sp?) processors yet. But I know it's hard to predict but by that time will the PS3 be the better one to have?

I've checked for reviews and what not but a lot of them seem to just say the 360 is superior due to the PS3 not having games that use the full potencial etc, but in the future which is going to be better to have? currently im still on a PS2. But im looking more to the next gen consoles due to the fact GTA and what not. I've played the 360 quite a few times on a full HD 50", gotta say the graphics are great. Never played a PS3 though.

Again this may seem like a repetative post but help would be appreciated :).

Knowbody can honestly tell you which machine will fair best in the future, its an impossible question, anybody who claims otherwise, is either a fanboy or a fool.

I own both consoles, and both have their merits, at the moment the 360 does have more games.. but that wont be for ever.

PS3

as soon as you hit the on/off touch sensitive buttons you realise how well built this thing is. By the end of the year the only thing stopping PS3 from dominating everything out there is it's price as everything else is just excellent.

I also think my PS3 is worth every penny of its £400 price tag. In fact I think it's to cheap when factoring in blu-ray.

I have both, in my opinion I would say the PS3 is more futureproof. I prefer it because of its reliability, build quality, looks, and no doubt as time goes on the games will start coming. At the moment I'm enjoying some PS2 games on it. I think you should sell your PS2 (keep your fave games though) and get a PS3 :)

If it had all the games the 360 was getting this year only then would this be true.

Nobody knows what the situation will be in a year or even 2. The PS3 is struggling at the moment, with lack of games and games that just look ****.
But in 2 years time, MS will probably be launching the next xbox which really could cause some ripples through the industry.

360 now, PS3 when the games come. It'll most likely be a hell of a lot cheaper then anyway.

why buy the ps3 now... when its far more expensive and has not made a impact yet in the games market...

it would be best to buy a xbox 360 now, while its cheaper, more games sure it has its problems, but if you buy it now. you have a years garante with it, so come next year... sell it if you want and get a ps3 when its more established on the market.

ps3 needs around 1-2 years before games kick in.

xbox 360 allready has that made,

and by next year... ps3 will be cheaper also ;)

I actually think the build quality of the 360 casing is better than the PS3, the PS3 i have feels like it is made of thinner plastic, in fact, the left hand side of the console, clicks when any pressure is applied.... On the other hand, the replaceable faceplate on the 360 is a pain and can easily be broken.

It's a tough situation at the moment.

The Xbox 360 currently has the best games and the best online service but its failure rate means that I couldn't recommend the console to anyone.

On the other hand, the PS3 is lacking games at the moment. There's also the likelihood of a price cut by the end of the year and perhaps the return of the rumble feature to its controllers.

The future is hard to predict. You're taking a risk with either console.

My coffee machine has the same thing...

Not really, the upcoming games to the end of the year are definitely stronger on XBox360, not even by a little bit either. Maybe in 24-36 months, but certainly not the end of '07.

Which is possibly true, but he could also buy an Xbox360 core and a seperate Blu-Ray player for the same price, or a 360 and HD-DVD drive for less.

Lots of opinions.

Even though the PS3 is expensive the Blu-Ray drive (even though not fully used) alone costs a bomb.

One of my friends 360's broke about 2 weeks after the year warranty ran out so can be a problem. And I have heard of a lot of 360's breaking down, don't know if thats the same as the PS3?. Graphics are supposed to be almost identical? Im only lookin at buying one or the other.

I own both consoles and currently lean towards the 360. There's no doubt it has the better library of games at the moment - hardly suprising considering the head start it had - but also (imo) has a better lineup of exclusives on the way and a vastly superor online service.

Decent games are bound to arrive on the PS3, and perhaps i'm a little jaded as, other than as a Blu-ray player, I haven't had a reason to switch my ps3 on for about 3 weeks now, but the 360 has very decent games available right now and some awesome titles in development. There really has been very little announced for the PS3 that has my spidey sense tingling.

Have a look at the games in development for both consoles and pick which ever suits your tastes the most. If HD movies play a factor in your purchase - i'd certainly choose a 360 and decent HDDDVD player over the PS3 with its Blu-ray drive.

Also the 360's online feature has always been pretty damn good. How is the PS3's?

Reasonably good, but could be better. From what ive seen it looks like if you start a chat then try to access a game you have to shut off the chat, so you can either chat in the game or in the dashboard, but you cant have two people playing two different games in *** same chatroom. Might be me going loopy though?

Online is smooth, very lagless, and now ive got my connection set up properly its seems pretty solid and still has a lot of potential. If sony can be bothered they can probably make it better than xbox live, the potential is there, its just whether they can do it.

Online is a little more picky on the PS3, its not as easy to follow someone into a game, but again this can probably be easily fixed.
