The time came

Not from my experience - only with people they are familiar with. Banter is banter but a lot of what is exchanged on here is never said face to face.

Funny how your balls shrink when you could potentially get a shoeing :p

For instance I'll quite happily call Freefaller a garlic-munching, diesel-civic-driving-fairy on here, then spend the whole meet giving him a wide berth, making sure he doesn't crush my face :p

Oh I agree, it's certainly never with the bile and ferocity that we sometimes see on here, but there is definitely a level of banter face-to-face, especially amongst those who have met on several occasions.

First time I met Freefaller (at an RR). I knew it was him (he was lost) as he was driving his gree mx-5 and had a bald spot! I honked my horn and let him know where he was going and told him why I'd recognised him. Was the first time I met him actually!

I've met a couple on here a few times (merlin, DreXeL, Simon) so the banter is good, but it's definitely toned down from the forums.

On here I try to portray a more hetrosexual professional business demeanour, highly knowledgeable, popular with the girls, full head of hair and 21-22 years old with great prospects.

In real life I act really queer, am really rather bald and drink too much

now you know

I have some great Polish Sausages as gifts from my Babcia (Grandma) to bring down, all shapes and flavours

Don't cross a polish woman who survived Siberia!

Are we allowed to swear at meets? Or does it carry a suspension?

:D:D:D

Everytime you say a competitor a load of stars suddenly appear at the persons mouth!

You promised mild buggery at the last meet.

Tut. Promises, promises.

:D :D :D

You loved being crushed though ;)

Have to say I tend to agree - the behaviour is a lot more sedate amongst strangers - sure friends, nay, members, that know one another are more brazen and forthright, however in general from my experiences the behaviour at meets has always been calm, and far from antagonistic. Not a surprise really.

There is a rather large chance I'm now working this weekend, which is gay (well not for me because its great money!), I shall try and poke my head round the door as I'll only be in godalming.

not definite though

You come along to the meet, I'll take the hit for the team and work instead of you.

Surely the client you are escorting would prefer an upgrade to a younger model for the day/evening :D

Pfft, you silly southerners.

At the northern meets we brawl over the last can of Special Brew then have a roll your car competition.

So I tackled the lower gearbox mount this afternoon, it wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be owing to a very stiff bolt (even though it was soaked in Rostex the day before, and before starting the job).

This is what was required to get the bolt in the end, and even then it snapped a cheap ratchet first (no way was I risking my Halfords Advanced one! Solid bar seems to have gone missing)

Fitted

There isn't much to report in terms of fitting otherwise, it is ridiculously simple.

I'm very pleased with the results though, gear change feels rock solid all the time, even when booting it. Feels more solid when coming on power harshly, too. I've noticed none of the vibration issues that others have reported, so it's definitely a worthwhile "upgrade".
