Batman Arkham City - Thread

Game runs quite poorly for me even in DX9. Whereas on Arkham Asylum I would get a constant 60fps (v-sync forced via D3D Overrider), on this I occasionally get drops into the 40's and even 30's. Crossfire 5870's, so should have no problem although perhaps the 1GB VRAM might be an issue?

Whats the highest combo anyone has to achieve, just got a 67 hit combo and feeling mighty proud of myself.

I am talking about in-game by the way, not challenge combos :D

How do you rack up such a big combo? I get around 12-15 or so and that's a bit of a struggle. Is the trick to press A to leap at the next opponent quickly to carry on?

Is anyone else getting crash to desktop after "searching for DLC". It happens 9 out of 10 attempts to start it. I've turned off Physx, can't find any solutions on google. ARGH!

Think this is still very buggy.

Running at 1920 X 1200 on Dell 24" with:

Rampage II extreme
intel 990X @ 5GHz
6GB tri channel Corsair Dominator GT 2000 MHz 7,8,7,20 1T
2 X GTX 480 SLi Watercooled

It is STILL stuttering in DX 11

Min FPS = "0"
Max = 52
Ave = 24

This is on a system that absolutely DEMOLISHES Crysis, Crysis2, BF3 (DX11) with a SINGLE gtx 480 (before I added a second) with every single gfx setting completely MAXXED!. Considering my 2 X OC 480's bench virtually identically to a stock GTX 590, and considering the rest of my system specs, then surely this HAS to be the game's coding. After all, there is not much room for upgrading from what I already have. Clearly my system can't really have any bottle necks hardware wise.

I suspect there will be a gushing torrent of patches for this game over the next few days/ weeks, or....one MOTHER of a patch pretty soon. :D

It's already been pointed out it is the game coding that's at fault regarding DX11 and the limp performance ;)

Yeah I have a similar problem, massive stuttering and flickering textures with my GPU usage only showing as ~50% on both cards.

My benchmarks were very similar to yours with a min of 0 and a max of 60 average 45. (running at 1920x1080 with FXAA on medium and tessilation on normal everything else on high)

hopefully there will be some kind of fix for this soon.

Yeah, I've seen some of the earlier posts. Just thought (without willy waving) that it would be interesting to see that even heavily OC'd Hex Core systems with top end SLi STILL can't run it properly. Its a real shame that this launch has been tainted with multiple delays and such terrible performance/ stability issues at launch.

Hey Daz, I maxxed all the settings before I benched (32AA, DX11 and everything on ultra). General bits were OK.....it all went Pete Tong when boatloads of juciy DX11 Smoke/ Fog/ Lighting or tesselation made their appearances.

Think the coders were at the crack pipe when they put the code "Gold" and released it :D Your 5850 Xfire is close to my kit in spec and should also DESTROY pretty much anything you throw at it so its clearly just as buggy on either ATi hardware & Drivers as it is on NVIDIA hardware and drivers......so I think its safe to say we can rule out crap drivers or the game being "Fixed" in some underhand conspiracy (LOL) to run better on Ati/ NVIDIA hardware :D

High sensitivity on the mouse, as Batman is actually striking an opponent, turn the mouse to face your next attack, click the LMB, always ensure you are pointing at another opponent. Also never ignore the counter attack, always hit RMB to counter or you'll lose the combo and start again at 1.

If you have 2 counter attacks, face one of them, hit LMB, then immediately hit RMB to counter the 2nd, took me a while to get the hang of it.

Hope those few tips help out.

Also...childish bragging pic below :D

tbh, just play it with DX9, visually, it looks identical to DX11 it really does, look on the last page, someone posted screenies up DX11 Vs DX9 :)
