Hi guys,

I am looking for a new TV and have decided that if I can get a good deal I may as well just go with a 4K one.

My budget is around £700 but preferably less if possible.

There is one that I have been looking at: Samsung UE40JU6500. This currently has a trade-in promotion for old TV's making is about £700 on some websites with a 5 year warranty.

Does anyone have any experience with this specific TV's or any alternatives?

Thanks :)

For the price you wont find anything better:) you also get a free sound bar with that tv at the moment and a 5 year guarantee depending on where you buy it from.

Personally i would want minimum size of 50" for 4K though:p

Thanks for the responses guys.

The LED TV's I have seem have a pretty good picture but I'm not an expert. The TV does look pretty good value compared to others. Just worried about the lack of reviews on it.

I would consider a 4K monitor but they tend to be more expensive for the size I'm looking for. The problem I have is I can't seem to justify buying a 1080p TV now that 4K seems to be becoming the norm.

rather buy a quality 1080p tv than a mediocre to crap quality 4k, but then i actually care about quality most people don't.

so the real question is do you want the best PQ possible for your £700 or are you happy to have a lesser quality tv that is 4K?

my opinion is all the Sony 1080p look great, but the 75'' 1080p needs looking at first, just in case it looks tooooooo big ...

this is a cheap 4K sammy, it has a neutral image with excellent picture quality, i've seen this tv about 12 times, it has no 3D and no fancy tricks at all, it is not bright and garish like all the others, it's realistic and for 4k it's dead cheap.

there you go.... just buy it, same as mine it's a brilliant tv, you see quite a few bargains like this.

last week i was offered a ZT 60 Reference for £1500 re-furbished, reason, noisy fan, but i waited too long so i missed it, i've also missed out on 3 more ZTs and about 5 VT65'', you need to buy these bargains instantly but i fluff around too long.

the best was a ST65'' on Gumtree for £600, nice bloke too !!!.....................damn it.

have you read OP at all?

his budget is £700 preferably less then you post a tv £500 over that budget?

also the reason why those tv's are cheap are because they have zero warranty and are second hand. i wouldn't like to hand over anything like £1500 for a tv with no warranty.

please stop talking nonsense your posts are all full of waffle. you don't know much about tv's tbh.

You could get a GT50 for the same price. Isn't the ST50 the bottom of the range?

the range went

720P model (can't remember what it was called) - UT - ST - GT - VT - ZT

but ZT was only ever part of the last range ever sold before that there were only 5 models. the UT was also gotten rid of a gen or two before the ZT was introduced.

i would rate the 720P and UT as the lower end panasonic plasmas

ST was mid end

GT was mid to high end

VT was high end

ZT was the end game

the differences between the ST50, GT50 and VT50 weren't huge at all, your talking slightly faster refresh rates, slightly better filters, etc. the UT50 had no filter at all and only 2 hdmi ports, etc basically it was a very cheap stripped down version.

i opted for the GT50 because I got it for a great price. I couldn't justify paying hundreds of pounds more for a VT50 just to get a very minor upgrade on 2 things plus a fancy remote.

From reading your bias posts i think i know more about TVs than you, one day you say you hate all LEDs and the next you say there's a few you like, i dont think you've seen any tvs recently have you, you know nothing about the latest 4Ks tvs at all.

E.G when you say there's no LEDs as good as your GT Panny ( you've said this many times now) that's clearly rubbish and proof that you havent seen any at all... because there's at least 10 that are as good as mine or yours.

your GT Panny is worth no more than 500 quid, just like mine, get off your high horse, you need to move on from your Plasma because you're stuck in the past... but choosing another tv is very hard, so yes it sounds like too much waffle

but just look at this post from you, who the hell is interested in all this guff .............see what i mean.

If someone comes on and asks me to recommend a TV I have to recommend lcd because plasma is no longer in production. The only other option is oled which is very expensive.

The truth is though there is only one lcd that compares to my gt50 and it costs £6k.

My gt50 may be worth £500 but tbh I don't care what it's worth I'm not looking to sell and I most likely will keep it til it dies. I only paid £799 for it brand new and it's 2 years old. It's still better than your st50 I've posted the differences above. So your saying it's depreciated £300 over 2 years. I still have 3 years warranty remaining. I'm happy with that.

It's also better than every lcd out there bar that £6k one but that just shows how good it is. A TV costing 8 times as much is on the same level as it.

You on the other hand have been trying to buy a TV for the past few months and haven't. Bite the bullet if your such an expert and know what TV is the best.

My next purchase is going to be a calibration got a quote for my gt50 @£350. Will soon have a perfect TV.

There won't be any lcd that matches a calibrated gt50.

i dont know what to buy, when i brought the panny i loved it straight away, like i love the OLED too, but with these LEDs i feel a huge contradiction, some of them are truly fantastic, but a voice in my head always sais ``no, they look wrong, your tv looks better``.

the Panasonic was an easy buy, i actually brought two of them, i has a 50'' and a 55'' ST..... but these LEDs, i'm just not sure.
