My CPU is currently at 49 which is hotter than usual, and it overheats if I slow the fans down, do you think that taking the case side off would help or not? its a Lian-Li V1100

A little bit. Mostly the temps are a little higher, but its the PSU thats the give away as its got to the obviously whiny stage, it usually takes a while and a hot room to get there, but lately its constant.

Good thing my water set-up is going in over the weekend.

Heat is only going to cause trouble if the system becomes unstable...normally caused by excessive heat. Summer brings higher temps regardless of what you do to cool a pc. My overclocked 4 gig 64 cpu idles at 41 using a freezer 64 on a fan controoler at the lowest speed (volts). During gaming in this warm weather.. (26.5 room temp) atm cpu will go upto 53/55 degrees no problem...and all my fans are on low volts and the side off the case. My 7900GT`s are running VF900`s again on the lowest speed(volts) and they idle at 41/42 atm, and rises a few degrees during gaming. You must take into account the location of your pc, and the ambient room temp.

Taking the side off will help with the temperature, though it will increase dust and some noise!

My case has the case and cpu fans on 7v, CPU is at 51c at the moment.

Its a v1100+, taking the side panel off will not be a good idea.

What fan configuration you running?

All of my temps are +2 from what they were at winter, so all low 30's with graphics at 51deg idle, 57deg load.

My room temp at the moment is 25c, the cpu temp is 41c idel, and the 3d cards are 66c.

Last night at about 1am my room temp was 29c, the cpu temp was 45c idel and the 3dcards were 69 - 70c

For some reason my room gets really hot during the night.

Probably like mine and faces south west, gets the sun from midday until sunset :/ My temps arent too bad though, both my CPUs idle at 37c, about 4-5c higher than normal.

My CPU fan is temp controlled but its running at about 4-6 degrees warmer at the fans normal idle speed, 7800GTX is 2 degrees warmer. room is at 25 degrees.

System is way too noisy under load now, if I keep a target temp of 50*c load for CPU.

Idle temps are about 5*c higher and load is about 7*c higher.

Before sun:

Fluctuations between:

Mobo: 31oC (88oF)
CPU: 32oC (90oF)
WDC: 26oC (79oF)

Sun + Overclocking:

Mobo: 37oC (99oF)
CPU: 38oC (100oF)
WDC: 34oC (93oF)

That's with the sun pretty much directly on my case too. Considering that, only going up by about 6oC isn't too bad really. Think I'll turn my PC off tonight and let it cool down.

My poor old 6800GT isnt liking the heat. According to the nVidia panel its running at 70c and games have been very laggy.

I would say with this weather, my 6800gts would be getting up in the 90s with games, cos there 69c now and thats idel, so they would easily get to 93 - 95c with games. But the heat dosent seem to bother them at all in games, they just keep on going,
