Ok so about 3'ish months ago i downloaded the demo of two worlds to see what it was like before buying the full product, and about a week ago i went and bought from Steam.
Now i got a letter from 'Davenport Lyons'' Solicitors saying i illegally downloaded this game in august, now the only thing i downloaded was the demo, the document even has my ip address and allegid program i used to download the demo, and the size of it, and now im being charged £700 for them saying i downloaded something called razer 1911, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.
And the most annoying thing is i cant get in contact with reality pump because there number isnt correct, and the solicitors are closed.
But the weirdest part is the papers sent look like theyve all been forged and the signarure looks like a childs writting.
So in about 2 weeks when they want this apparent fine i will be on the streets.

It appears they are a real law firm and that this is what they specialise in, so perhaps not a scam?

"The firm has an excellent reputation in areas spanning corporate to property, defamation to intellectual property, music to film finance and digital rights to sport"

Does the IP on the letter match your real IP or is it made up? I would get in contact with your ISP if it matches, otherwise it's probably just a scam.

Is the number on the website the same as on the paperwork?

Thats probably all part of the scam.
I can't comment on this site, but I do know a friend who bought a watch off a man on the street for 'x' amount. There was a brochure, a telephone number (which worked and got through to a secretary), and a website, which made things fairly convincing. He checked on the watchmakers website and found he had saved a lot of money.

Obviously, it was a very elaborate scam and the watch wasn't worth a fraction of what he paid.

So be careful!

Did you download the "demo" using bittorrent?

Yep, cos Razor 1911 are a moody warez crew. Sounds like there's a bit more to this than "Steam" downloading imo. IP address would have come from your ISP, who probably wouldn't have had an qualms in handing over your address if they knew it was to prosecute you for illegal downloads on their network.

Scan the letter in and let us take a gander. :)

Scan it and upload it for us :p. To be honest it's probably a scam, I doubt very much an official letter off someone like that would contain errors in things like phone numbers. Also, Razor1911 is a warez group, who did release Two Worlds months ago heh.
