It's what you've been waiting for, Yorkfield is nearly upon us

Get in line people, first come first served! :D

Q9300's are expected with us towards the end of next week

Question, how much faster are these Yorkfeild Quads compaired to the Q6600 @ 3.6ghz

is my cpu faster than them all at stock ? with it being at 3.6 ? becuse if it is i dont think its worth me bothering with a upgrade if its not going to yeld a big result.

UPDATE:

dam your going to have to have a great Quad Clocking board to overclock these chips.
lowest model 7x multi only ?
mid model 7.5x multi only ?
high end model 8.5x multi only ?

you going to need over 1600fsb+ to high 3.6-4.0ghz

If you're running a Q6600 at 3.6Ghz, it surely can't be worthwhile upgrading. However, if like me you're plodding along on a AMD 3500+, come to daddy Q9450 :D

I think we need a comparison of the Q9450 and the Q6600 on the power side of things. If the Q9450 is going to save me £65 on my electricity bill over a year when having it on 24/7 then I'll probably get it.

mid models 8x multi lowest is 7.5x
Hmmmmmmmmmmm............. £65 difference between the Q6600 and the Q9450. I know which one I'm going for.
lol no you dont, hense you want to know power consumption ! And what did you actually mean by that in the first place ?

The Q9450 is a lot cheaper (by £130 or so) than its equivalent Kentsfield Q6700, obviously the lower multiplier will hinder overclocking but for running at stock its a no-brainer. The 9300 is a bit more than the Q6600 (by £29) but it runs at higher FSB and slightly higher clockspeed. So I'd say the Yorkfields are favourably priced relative to the 6 series..

I currently have an E6600 so been waiting for these to come along :)

How do we "pre-book" a CPU please?

If I "pre-book" when does my c/card get debited?

Is the 10th March a confirmed date as another website is saying 19th March.

Anyone suggest a mobo to match to it - preferably a P35 - either Asus or Gigabyte.

Why would you want to have it switched on 24/7?

I got one of the 1st "wolfs", but I think this time I'll wait and see how they perform before getting a pain in the credit card;)
