2 X Drive RAID 0 Setup | Whats Drives?

Hi Guys,

I've had my heart set on purchasing 2 X 320 Samsung F1 Spinpoints but to my utter dismay i have discovered that they seem to be completely out of stock in the UK.

Now I'm looking for a suitable replacement. Basically, i want to use the array in addition to my 74GB Raptor boot drive for games, movies and pictures.

I have a budget of between £80 - £150. Can anyone help? Note: I already have 750 Gb of external storage which will serve as an offline backup.
 
I was under the opinion that with a low enough stripe that RAID is excellent for loading maps etc etc. I was considering getting 2 X WD320AAKS. Can anyone think of a better alternative?

In theory yes but there is a lot of talk around that WD have slowed the accesses of the 320Gb model to keep the noise and heat down for the major box shifters (who will be the largest market for these drives). This may simply be a case of them enabling the Acoustic Management stuff so a simple tweak with the tool may be sufficient to get the times back down.
 
OK, seems strange that a single platter would be slower than 2 platters. £140 is getting a little close to my max budget. Especially considering that i don't actually need that much storage.

Does anyone know of an alternative?

Please helpp....

just get one 640gb, there fast enough on there own, your beyond help !
