I apologise for bringing up an old thread, but I was wondering if any other 3200AAK owners have recently experienced repeated RAID1 (or any other) failures on their drives?
My pair ran like a dream for almost two and a half years (since around easter 2008), but then I regularly needed the Intel Matrix program to restore a working image to one drive or the other.
This week, things took a turn for the worse, whereby one drive has a "non-raid" status and cannot be restored by the Intel software in Vista-64 on my MSI x48c Platinum motherboard.
The PC is basically a games machine and internet browser, I simply used the RAID0 as some insurance cover against a drive failure. Would you agree its time to buy a new drive, even a new pair?
If so, is ~£50 on a SDD a viable option these days (I've dropped horribly out of the pc loop in the last 18 months and I might be very ambitious even thinking that solid state has become this affordable, given I currently use 200GB of storage)?
