Just bought a Tuniq Tower from OcUK, and spent a day last week blitzing my case, took everything out, cleaning and dusting down everything as it was a complete mess.

I know when I was doing my research before buying this, I wanted to find reports and pictures of people with similar systems to check everything would fit in ok, so I am posting this in the hope it will help someone in the future.

My new favourite tool is compressed air after this job!

Also, my specs are:

Case: Antec 900
Power Supply: Corsair HX 620W
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35C-DS3R
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (B3 revision)
Memory: 4GB Corsair XMS2 Dominator DDR2 @ 4-4-4-12
Graphics: Leadtek 8800GTS 640mb
Hard Drive Total: 1.67TB
Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Need coffee for any job!

Note, if anyone is reading this as a guide, please plug in your 4pin power supply lead to your motherboard before you put it in your case, as I didnt and its a ****ing pain to reach behind the Tuniq!

Back in the case

Not the best cable management, but its tidier than it was and shouldnt be as much of a problem. Going to feed some more cables through the cable tie and tighten it when I reinstall additional hard drives.

Quick screendump from Core Temp. Stock speeds when idle.

Nice temps .. now overclock that CPU :)

Are those temps with the fan off?

Yeh im going to overclock it in the coming weeks, was just a quick screengrab!

They are with the fan on about 50%.

Those temps look a little off tbh. It's either very cold in your house or Coretemp is reading your cpu wrong.

How do you mean off? Too high or low? The room it is in is quite cold, I dont have the heating on in that room very often, so it does get quite cold. Bios read the temp at about the same as well when booting.

fro5tie download real temp and speed fan see what they give you.

Yeh I have speedfan, will download realtemp and run them both see what they are giving. Why do you think its wrong, too high or low?

You need some compressed air for your case :p

I know, I used a big can of it with all the components it was filthy, took everything out of the case (bar dvd-rw and psu), and vacuumed it! Those fans are buggers for dust.

The Tj. Max in coretemp is quite low (hence your low temperatures). Did you change it manually?

Mine is at 100 simply because there is so much controversy over the Q6600's actual Tj. Max and its the default.

Holy mother of god, that is far and away the dustiest set of internals Ive seen in a long while..!!

Get a couple of tins of compressed air take your case outside and get blowing..!!

Good job on the cooler though fella.!!

Didnt change anything, didnt realise tj max was important. Im just reading up on it now infact, if anyone wants to quickly explain? ;)

Indeed - add 15 degrees to those temps (or use real temp ;))

B3s do tend to run hotter than GO stepping

Nice job though :)

Yeh the B3s are slightly hotter, I pcked my Q6600 just before the G0s came out.

Haha yeh it was quite a mess, its much better now though. Going to have to keep a regular stock of compressed air in though, the fans make it terrible for dust in there, and its so hard to keep food airflow with 5 hard drives!

Nice job mate all you need to do now is keep it looking like that all the time

I intend to try! Where abouts in Rotherham you live, I'm from that neck of the woods myself!

Hopefully going to buy a 1TB hard drive in the future too. Ive got 2x 300gb, 1x250gb and 1x80gb for storage (plus a seperate 320gb for operating system). I bought all the drives many a year ago when they were the biggest you could get, so its taking up a hell of a lot of room in my case. So future plans are to get a 1TB and wack that in and remove all the other storage ones.

Also, quick question if anyone is knowledgeable on this.

I've got an Antec 900 case, which has 2x front intakes, 1x20cm top fan, and 1x rear exhaust. Is there any down side to putting the rear or top fans (the ones located nearest my Tuniq) on highest speed setting? I cant think of anything, but maybe I'm overlooking something which could negatively affect the heatsink?

(ignoring sound concerns as it can be as loud as it wants as long as it cools!)

I have a B3 quad and with core temp, (0.99.4) you need to go to the settings and add 15 deg to the Tjunction Max offset.

I had to lap the CPU and the base of my Tuniq Tower to even out the temps, I also added a washer on each of the springs for more pressure.

I can' remember what my idle temps at stock were, but @3.2 with 1.4v, the idle temps were 48,45,45,45 and loaded were 71, 68,69,70.
