Tuniq Tower 120 - My installation with pictures

That's because the Tj. Max is different on them all :P

Speed fan is using 100, real temp is using 90 and core temp is using 85.

I'd personally use 100 as the Tj. Max. So you will have to manually add compensation to real temp and core temp, which can be done in their preferences menu's :)

Or just look at distance to Tj max, which should be the same for all three apps. You can change the option in core temp to make it display distance to Tj max.

You can set the tj max in real temp to 100 via the settings. Nice job though on the cleaning, going to those lengths as removing everything I personally would have bought the 900-2 and slapped everything back in that.

Haha I'm not made of money! Was a good job, something to do and quite interesting.

So if the tj max should be 100, then speedfan temps are right, coretemp needs +15 and realtemp needs +10?

If thats the case, then what are the temps like for stock speed? Seems a bit high, but is that just because its a B3 revision not a G0?

I had a Q6600 B3 with tuniq tower also, both were lapped but the temp was still 70+ on all cores under prime95 test, though I was running it 3.33ghz 1.42V. At that speed even at idle the temp was well into the 40s so I'd say your temp is normal.

Yup that's correct.

Your temps are perfectly normal :)

OK thanks for that info mate. Good to see some people have/had similar hardware as me to compare too. Did you not have any problems with 70+ temps? Ive usually read that 65 as a max is a good rule of thumb?

Yes it is but prime95 puts the temp up at least 10C+ when compaired to normal max load so I could still live it. I've had it upto 90C+ a few times too when I went crazy with the voltage and it started to throttle.

Yeah, I dont think I would ever have full load through normal use, most intensive thing would probably be running GTA IV!

Will have a play with it anyway, now atleast I know what kind of temps I am really getting!

Pretty low temps for 100% on a quad core! Leaves plenty of room to overclock it :p

And nice work cleaning it up, was well dusty before, never seen a PC like it haha! That cooler looks great as well, its huge but does the job great! :)

Yeh the temps seem ok, they have levelled out a bit higher than that screenshot now. Yeh I love the cooler, looks so menacing with the "spiked" fin designs on the sides of it.

Overclock it already! :( It'd be interesting to see how far you can get your B3 upto.

Haha, I will do mate dont worry! Hard to find time to do it though, going to take it slow, never OC'd before so just going to do it one step at a time. Will keep my results posted as and when.

I mentioned in another thread that i had a QX6700 with a tuniq tower on it. I was ranting that the tuniq was useless as the temps were mid 60s all the time.
I took it apart last week, re-greased it with AC5, reseated it, took sime time adjusting the screws to look balanced, fired it up and was getting low 20s for temps on all cores!!!!!!
So, i might buy another tuniq seeing as my mobo/cpu spec is the same as the OP, albeit i have the G0 Stepped cpu. Currently running at 3.51GHz on stock cooler, giving me 50°C on all cores.
The OP has asked this too, but can someone explain TJ max and what it does please?

It can be tricky to get it seated right, I mean I'm not 100% sure mine is seated perfectly, but seems to be OK for now. If I run into any problems when overclocking I might have to reseat it. Only used the Tuniq TX-1 paste or whatever it is called as well, I reckon if I cleaned the CPU/HS properly with grease remover, used Arctic Silver 5, and properly screwed the Tuniq in I might be able to squeeze the temps down, but for now I'm just going to play it by ear.

(when i say properly screwed in, i mean doing like 1 turn, then opposite one turn, then other corner one turn, etc and doing it "evenly")

Also - 3.51ghz on the stock intel cooler?! God thats nice work, could never do that with a B3!

actually had it at 3.6Ghz but prime95 didn't like it. Saying that it didn't like 3.5 either but in the real world its not crashed on me yet.
So....what does TJ Max do? Doesn't sell branded clothes cheap does it? ;)

Haha thats first thing that springs to mind!

This is probably your best read, im still just understanding it so i wont try and explain - http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/docs.php
