"Nehrim - At Fate's Edge" is a finished Total Conversion for the RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and at the same time one of the biggest mods for this game at all. Total Conversion means it is a self-contained game that bases upon the Oblivion game engine, but has no relation to Oblivion's lore. It is a world in which neither Tamriel nor any other TES based name exists. The continent itself on which the game is situated is called Nehrim, it is completely independent from the base game.

The English version of Nehrim that will include translated texts and German voice acting will be released in early September 2010.
Our aim was to create a fantasy world which is as lively and atmospheric as realisable in the limits of our possiblilities. We primarily developed Nehrim for those players who love RPGs and were disappointed by Oblivion on that score. Nehrim will be a role playing game with elements of action, no action game with elements of role playing games.
Trailer

- COMPLETELY new, 100% hand-crafted game world (comparable in size with Oblivion's) with extensive, unique dungeons

- Extensive main quest (longer than Oblivion's) with 35 single quests as well as approx. 30 side quests

- XP-based skill system & when you level up you gain LPs (learning points) that you can use or skill upgrades at a teacher - just as in the Gothic series.

- Completely new spells and items; the most powerful ones can only be gained as quest rewards or found in hard-to-reach locations. NO LEVEL SCALING. Item enchantments are rare, legendary/unique items very hard to get (not possible for low level characters).

- The character generation will be the same as in Oblivion - but races, zodiac signs (birthsigns) and classes will be different.

Released TODAY

Only a couple days ago was I going to reinstall Oblivion and install OOO but with all the files to download and install I just couldn't be bothered.

This is just what I've been looking for so thanks for the heads up. Haven't heard of it before.

Thank christ, i hate the Oblivion levelling system and Oblivion XP was much better.

Just downloaded the 1.6GB in 3mins...got to love that 100mbit connection! :P

Hope this is good.

GTFO!

Would be great to try it out but i never bought Oblivion on steam since it was before they'd opened it up for OBSE and my discs are at home :(

Well just had a little go on this, not been long outside the cave you start off in.

First impressions are very good. Has somewhat of a retail quality to it (aside from the German VO's). The size and scope seems hard to believe.
There are a few minor niggles, but I'm liking what I've seen so far! Well worth reinstalling for given its free!

Thanks for pointing this one out :D

Looks awesome, will check it out when I get time. I wonder how they got the light beams to work, neither fallout 3 or oblivion used that tech

How long will it take me to beat the game?

As opposed to Oblivion, the Main Quest, including 35 single quests, is to the fore in Nehrim. Our Main Quest isn't just much more intense than Oblivion's, but also more extensive. You can beat Oblivion in about 10 hours. This most definitely will not be possible in Nehrim. Additionally, there will be about 30 side quests.

Do I need Shivering Isles or Knights of the Nine?

No, you only need the original Oblivion game and update patch.

:D

Looks same as oblivion. If it was a total conversion no texture or model would be the same as the original that bethesda made. Yet looks exactly the same.

Shame theres no open world game like this but set in a futuristic setting like bladerunner. (fo3 is the exception but its in a apocalyptic setting)
