Well gues what i just manage to save £3000 pound to buy a new car and oh i reverse into one of my work collegues:mad::mad::mad:

heres how it happened:

Muppet work mate gets in car and reverse out then sits in centre of car park with reverse light off.
I check my mirrors before reversing then check blind spots, hes still sat their.
I begin my manuvere , i hadn't even moved a foot and bang he catches my rearend. So he some how managed to reverse about 10 meters in less than 10 secounds but hes also reversing down a one way system....

So i managed to destroy his door and mess up his rear 1/4, got a quote from my local garge of £700 quid for a full repair and respray..
My car had its bumper ripped off (now held on with cable ties) and drivers side rear light mangled plus scratches caused by the bumper.....

Was i right to admit fault i did reverse into him? and was i right to go via the garage not insuracne company...

I no longer have a car and can't really say for certain, but you shouldn't have admitted it was your fault. He reversed the wrong way if I'm correct. Not sure who would have right of way in this situation though.

Sorry I know it's not much help, but just thinking out loud.

Depends how much you trust said colleague.

If you trust him not to mess you about, settling outside the insurance and paying directly may work out cheaper if you're young.

If you're in your 40s with a massive ammount of protected NCB i'd just tell him to go through the insurance :p

22 with all of 3 years ncb....
first accident ive ever had right infront of my boss as well

Even if you don't make a claim the accident should be reported to your insurance company which will sadly affect your renewal. However failure to report an accident could result in loss of insurance in a subsequent incident.

Andi.

new bumper

new rear light cluster

and you're going to have to pay a bodyshop to roll out and fill and paint the creased part of the rear wing.

No idea how easy finding a proton persona rear bumper and light cluster will be at a scrap yard :( Start searching !

sod the new bumper and body work, car is going as soon as ive got the cash, my family are moving 50 odd miles from work i need a diesel asp

should have let the insurance battle it out, may of gone 50/50?

that depends upon if you want to appear to be a **** at work ?

I (like you) would be quite happy standing your ground and not admitting it and taking any flack that comes your way but i don't get the feeling thats the way the OP feels.

Hence why he admitted liability. He's not done anything "wrong" as such, he just perhaps could have done it better. But its too late for that now.
