just crashed my car....

yeah and watch my insurance rip me off, im allready paying 500 quid for a car that cost me 100 thats with 3 years no claims, the same car with 1 years no claims is £1000+
Sod it ill just go without as usual.

thanks for the responses guys
Honestly, consider going through your insurance. In fact, calculate it out. You are overestimating the cost immensely I'm sure. I pay barely more than £1000 for a 530i at 24 with a recent claim, only 1 years NCB and 9 pts - if you have a £100 car, short of it being a Nissan 200SX, you will easily insure it at 26 for very similar money to what you paid this year.

It will probably take many years, if ever, for your increase in insurance premiums to be greater than £700.

Cheers for trying to cheer me up but i know theses next steps very well.

Had 2 accidents, both times next renewal was less than the previous year (1 my fault, 1 other driver). While I may be some fluke / statistic of the system, I'd honestly consider doing it as you're at worst 50:50, best not at fault.

Even if you don't make a claim the accident should be reported to your insurance company which will sadly affect your renewal. However failure to report an accident could result in loss of insurance in a subsequent incident.

Andi.

it was on private property does do you still have to report it (Assuming there is no claim?)

No idea how easy finding a proton persona rear bumper and light cluster will be at a scrap yard :( Start searching !

I used to have one, their made pretty much entirely out of surplus Mitsubishi parts (lancer chassis, colt headlights, mirage/galaxy parts, etc) so its usually quite easy/cheap to get bits.

if you had a car worth some money you should go through the insurance, not sure what the value of that is but i'd imagine it'd be close to being a low cat write off and loads of hassle!
also can't really see how the op can deny fault, if he's reversed clean into the side of someone then no matter what that is an observation fault surely??

I wouldn't report it regardles, but seeing as it's a private matter on private property, i would guess you officially don't need to? Maybe it depends on the policy...

I do RTA work and can confirm that in my opinion looking at the damage it would appear to be your fault unfortunately, although as pointed out it isn't exactly 'clear cut'.

Firstly, he's got the right of way, he's established on the 'road' you're still in a parking space.

Secondly you've hit the side of his vehicle with the rear of yours if i understand it correctly? Had it been the rear of your vehicle and the rear of his, it would lean towards the 50/50 side of things.

I appreciate he is reversing down a 'one way' system, but unfortunately that does not diminish your responsibility, as it would also be your fault if you hit a vehicle parked on double yellow lines, even though it would be illegally parked.

Again this is only going by the book, common sense tells you he shouldn't be doing what he's doing and personally i would have suggested 50/50 outside of insurance, or atleast some contribution from him.

But as he's a workmate you probably would have got too much hassle.

Regarding insurance premium, if you report it and let the insurers handle it, obviously your premium's will go up, how much though i really cant tell you, but doubt it would be more than £700. Reporting it will increase your premium regardless of whether the insurers pay anything out, obviously it would fraud though to not report it, so i cant suggest you don't ;)

Appears can count for nothing :) A friend of mine RAN into the back of a van on a roundabout, she admitted fault but the other driver tried to claim for extra damage. In the end her insurance said 50/50 and they each paid their own repairs.

If he reversed as far as 10 metres your insurance company may argue he's DRIVING in reverse and recklessly if at speed. I take it there were no skid marks for his car and how far out of the space were you before he hit your car?

Never admit liability even it it's your fault 100% and intend to contact your insurance company, take notes of the accident, (photos as well if possible) and witness statements if needed.
The only time I would admit it was my fault would be if I hit say a car with no driver in the other vehicle and the damage caused was agreed in writing.

Hope it turn out okay. :)

Ok update the little scrote has decided to try and threaten to take me to civil court....
I just phone 3 people that witnessed the event and their saying he was driving at speed and wasnt in control of the veichle.
Hes also refusing to pay me the 800 back to me til the civil court case. I thought this was done and dusted.

I guess that was a lame attempt at a joke?

Why would you think it was a joke? It's virtually certain to be written off with that damage if he goes through insurance. The part that has been damaged is part of the rear quarter panel which is a big job to replace, and it's not a very valuable car (in monetary terms, no disrespect to the OP!).
