lol, i kinda feel bad for him but hes setting new records, not sure anyone else has been removed as captain for his country 2 times ;)

Tbh I could see Terry retiring from international football after this, he's what, 32 and only has one tournament left in him anyway and to be stripped of the captaincy twice for essentially political reasons I can't see how that engenders a good working relationship with the manager, team or administration.

I've never been a fan of JT's to be honest, but I must say I find it quite strange that just from someone accusing you of something, you lose the captaincy. Innocent until proven guilty?

Don't get me wrong, if he's found guilty as far as I'm concerned he should be banned from playing football for X months (lets face it; if you were do be found guilty of saying something racist at work you'd lose your job) but until the trials been completed I don't see how he can be penalised.

It opens the door for tacticle accusations IMO.

There's no better leader in the England squad, who would get the arm band?

Obviously if he's proven guilty then he should be stripped of it.

Woodgate and Bowyer where suspended from England Duty pending there Assault Charges, Terry should be suspended as well to be honest.

He shouldn't lose the captaincy for this however he should have never got it back once it was taken from him to begin with. I bet Capello wished he gave it to Gerrard when he first got the job now.

I don't think he should even play, tbh. It's harsh and all, considering the idea of innocent until proven guilty, and so forth... but I don't think that someone representing their country, whilst criminal proceedings are continuing, can really work.

But that's suggesting he's guilty?

What if someone had falsely accused a footballer of something? It would happen everyday..

I thought the FA looked into it though and decided there was chance of a case and so it passed on to criminal proceedings. So you wouldn't be able to tactically accuse a player of anything.

it's his own fault and whilst he might be a great leader, he is also a racist.

it can be proven guilty/not guilty and it will make no difference to the fact that he clearly shouted "you ****ing black ****" at Ferdinand.

i agree he shouldn't even be playing but not for political reasons but because his legs have gone. he will be exposed several times against pacey front men at the euro's anyway.

The argument is that he's being punished before he's been found guilty though. That can't be right.

The argument for him losing the captaincy and not being in the squad is that it will cause divides in the squad and/or controversy in the media. I'm not sure what's changed in that respect from the England friendlies the other month and during the Wayne Bridge stuff though.
you ****ing black ****

You're a racist too. It can be proven guilty/not guilty and it will make no difference to the fact that you clearly said "you ****ing black ****" ;)

I'm not saying otherwise. I just don't agree with somebody being punished before they've been found guilty.

edit: As I said, what's changed from the friendlies a couple of months back?

if I said it to someone while I was at work and it was either heard or filmed then i would expect to be suspended and diciplined at a later date. i certainly wouldn't think that i could return to work in a leadership role with the person i had racially abused, family member in my team.

Would you expect to be suspended from the forums then?

The point I was making was that you ignored the context it was said in and by simply saying it, he's racist. I find Terry's excuse highly unlikely but there is the smallest chance that he's telling the truth.
