I disagree. There's no logical reason for the offence taken to differ.

Call someone you know at work an idiot, then call someone else a black idiot. Let me know how that works out for you.

You can argue the semantics or 'logic' behind it all you want, fact is that by adding someone's skin colour into the mix creates a totally different situation. If Terry said what everyone thinks (and saw) then he commited a criminal act, it would not have been a criminal act had he not brought colour into it however logical any of us think that is.

It's also no different from calling someone a ******* ginger ****.

In reality, none of the three mean diddly squat, we've merely decided that one is more insulting than another, largely because its seen as PC to suggest so.

Its completely fine to insult someone for being ginger, white, fat, thin, geek, ****, anything else, but black is immune.

Its illogical and stupid, do I hate ALL ginger people if I call one ginger person a ****, even if infact he is a ****?

Oh dear. :o

Brilliant decision the guy is a class act, great professional.

.. and going to be retired from international football before the WC :p wasted opportunity to pick a long term captain, and ditch the older players with the goal of building towards a more successful WC campaign.

.. i mean, people don't actually think we have a chance at the Euro's do they?

I assume your reaction would be the same then had Gerrard been named captain? ;)

As I said when it was Capello picking Terry's replacement, how can Pearce pick a long term captain when he's only managing the side tonight?

It makes sense really, you wouldn't want to give it to Hart for example and then the new manager takes it off him... that wouldn't be good for anyone.

wasn't parker captain when we beat spain?

i don't think the captaincy thing matters that much tbh but parker is a solid choice.

he's a great mediator has captained spurs and is 2nd out on the pitch for spurs most times too. he is a good role model and you wont see him shouting expletives at the officials or opposing players . rarely makes a bad challenge. i know he was sent off on sunday but the first was a yellow that shouldn't have been but the 2nd was badly timed but he didn't walk until he'd gotten his apology in, not many other players do this. sign of a captain in my eyes.

oh and walker injured? great another blow for sunday.

I really don't understand why we make such a fuss out of the captain in English sport, the simple solution for England is that the player on the field with the most caps wears the armband doesn't stop the other big characters influencing the game and gets rid of this ridiculous sham that just detracts from the real issues with the England team.

Peace could have just opted to take the Italian route, give it to which ever player is in the side with the most caps.
