If the above is true then I can see a number of unhappy 7970 owners.

The above is not likely to be 7990 as the 7970 has 3.5 TF so the above would be a 7980 most likely to combat Kepler

More speculation:
"Successor of Radeon HD 7970 has 20 percent higher Compute Power (not gaming performance), based on EGCN (Enhanced GCN) and will be launched Q3/2012 or Q1/2013. Specification: 2304 Stream processors, 384-bit mem bus, 3GB GDDR5 6 GHz. TDP 250W, idle 3W."

I thought Tenerife was part of HD 8XXX? Be nice if this was a HD 7980 though :)

Looks like AMD is already setting up it's next launch already though, be it HD 7980 or HD 8XXX...

Yeah AMD must be really scared of Nvidia's powerful...... 'rumours'.

HD 7XXX is already here, Kepler still a wet dream..

Looks like AMD are lining up faster cards for the end of year, and Nvidia's 'proper Kepler', not the GK104 stop gap, but the true Kepler's that are rumoured to arrive nearly a year after HD 7XXX... :)

I clicked on this thread thinking I was going to learn a bit more about one of the lovely Canary Islands!

Any Nvidia leak/news is "Scared of the competitor" when AMD do it, it's different.
Who knew.

Difference is AMD have already had new cards out for 3 months..

Lets not give AMD credit for rolling out a new generation before Nvidia again, also lets give them no credit for planning there next gen before Nvidia even gets it's current one out...

Yeah we all like Nvidia but there's no denying they keep dropping the ball. GTX 480... Wood screws... GTX 590.. Now no kepler cards.. Not very impressive. A more powerful card x amount of months after AMD's still isn't impressive..

Credit where credit is due, AMD have performance crown for both single and dual GPU's, and they haven't even released the new dual GPU yet :)

No, there been rumours of faster cards in waiting for months, remember the 2304 Stream Processors mystery?
According to the rumor it's already in place in Tahiti, but deactivated.
Why have a bios switch on the 7970, it's there for something they have planned.

All part of AMD's plan I think,2012 is going to be a big year for them, also the 7970 must be also due a revamp soon.

But, there is alway the chance that the 'Tenerife' slide is fake.

The slide says GCN2.0 shaders not GCN. I wonder if due to the cancellaton of the 32NM process,AMD has by now had enough time to work on finishing the second iteration of GCN. Maybe in a few months a GCN2.0 based HD7980 will be out. After all Nvidia went from GTX400 series to GTX500 series relatively quickly.

AMD might have a big old ace up their sleeve, they may wait for Nvidia to bring out their beast 680 then pounce one them like a cat jumping out a big empty wet bag of fish.

A healthy market for us consumers can only be good. Bring on all the new cards and let me choose what I want I say :)

enableing, what idiot got that wrong lol. Someone's either gone to all that trouble making a great fake slide and spelt something silly wrong, or AMD did themselves :p
