Spec my friend a sports car

He's currently got a 996 Turbo but he says it's too fast for the road. He's looking for a sports car that is fast but can also do the occasional jaunt up and down the country. He's looking to spend up to £25k.

He's had the following and doesn't want the same again.

E39 M5
E55 AMG
RS4
RS6
S4

I suggested an E46 M3 CSL and an E90 M3 but he's not keen. He's looking at Exiges currently but I think the 4 pot will bore him.
 
Forgot to say he had a 996 rag top and no, he doesn't want another and he thinks the Cayman will feel too slow, which is the problem he had with his first 996.

It's just a 'Shout out names of cars' threads. It's a waste of time without your friend actually posting here and asking questions himself. Nobody knows what he wants, what his tastes are, his priorities, what his running cost tolerance is, and he isn't here to feed back when people make suggestions either.

All people can do is just post random names of cars you can buy for £25k. Completely pointless and I'd be amazed if there was a car he didnt know existed when he has a car history like that.

Looking at his car history it looks like he should be here telling us about performance metal, not the other way round, anyway!

I think his Turbo has been fettled with. He says it's only good on the road above 80mph because it gets there too quick. He's getting rid before he loses his license. The non turbo is too slow for him by cause it lacks the torque that blown motors provide.

It doesn't really add up tbh. If he feels the turbo gets to 80+ too quickly to be any use/fun then an exige will be no better. It'll obviously feel completely different due to how much more stripped down/raw they are but it still gets there blisteringly quickly......


....which only really leaves slightly slower, mostly non turbo cars that have already been dismissed.

Chris hasn't got this quite right. What I said was that the Turbo only really starts to get into its stride from 70-80 MPH upwards. Below those speeds it's not very involving.

The reason I'm looking at more focused sports cars (e.g. an Exige S) after a history of quick saloons/estates is because I want to try something that still accelerates well but is engaging and entertaining where I spend almost all of my time: between 0 and 80 MPH.

Apologies if it doesn't make sense. If I knew what I was doing I wouldn't change cars so often. :rolleyes:
 
Swap your fat, boring, gay soft top turbo for a 6 GT3 and thank me later. My work is done here, I bet your turbo is a tip too isn't it?
