they do exist just check out the corsair website i have some in my x99
costly though

so what is the best match for skylake then, 8GB of top speed 3000+ ram, or 16GB of 2400/2600 ram?

though by skylake release will be pushing close to 4000 mhz , speed increases very minimal from top ddr3 and there no 2x8 gig 3000mhz kits

No official release date as yet. But Its rumoured that Intel will officially unveil the CPU on the 5th of August. Shouldn't be too long after that.

yes I am mate. Just because of where I'm coming from to be honest mate. I'm on a mATX Z77 and 3770K still, I need new combo to give me more room between the PCI-e slots so my top 390 can breathe a little lol.

Ahh, understand as I had the same issue with sli 780 on the board in sig, despite it being full ATX. Prices for ddr4 are a lot cheaper than I thought they'd be tbh. Now just have to wait for board and cpu prices. Wont be a massive upgrade from a 4790k, but I'm on a pretty much dead end socket now with Z87. Also id like a wider spaced board too incase I go sli again.

A sensible upgrade.

Were doing some testing between Skylake and X99, as we believe we could offer X99 upgrades and systems for near similar money but the X99 in theory has a lot more horsepower, more cores/threads, quad vs dual channel and more PCI-E lanes. If X99 can be had for only a small amount more cash then maybe X99 is the better option with a 5820k.

I've considered X99 myself Gibbo, but been put off a bit by the price of boards. But I do suspect that it will be a better investment in the long term. Particularly the 6 cores on the 5820k. Will be interesting to see how it compared to skylake.
