Russian airliner missing over Egypt

Reported as carrying over 200 passengers

The fact that its a russian airline makes it slightly nervous, Do we have a highjacking? Crash?

Edit: Confirmed crashed

Well I hope it turns up but normally it means it won't. Crash is obviously the most likely scenario by a long way.

Confusion:

One report said the plane, flying to Russia from Sharm al-Sheikh, had reappeared over Turkey.

But other reports in the Egyptian media said it had crashed in Sinai, while a Russian report said it had gone missing near Cyprus

Apparently it has just been confirmed on sky news that it has crashed but at the same time they announced it had crashed the ticker feed on sky was showing that the plane was safe.

How long had it been in the air ? Contact was lost shortly after takeoff they mention.

Yes but let's hope not - as the plane took off from Sharm el Sheik a malfunction on take-off would also explain why it crashed in Sinai.

We dont know yet, most reported issues on takeoff or shortly after are communicated back to ATC. We have missing comms here. So could be either or at the moment
