Russian search helicopter now apparently been shot down

Doesn't sound like they even had long enough to issue visual warnings to the pilot.

Radio warnings may have been issued, but no guarantee that the receiving plane heard them, frequency settings wrong, interference etc.

Besides, with Russian planes, don't you invert-roll above them, and give them the bird?

I think it may be fake.

It's easy to claim scum and call them savages, but they are shooting at people who are dropping bombs on them as far as they are concerned.

Uploader categorised the video under comedy though which is pretty horrible..... But I say again, I reckon it is a fake.

As xdcx says though, these are Syrian rebels who are been bombed every day by their enemy. Of course you are going to try and shoot the pilot down as he parachutes.

Pretty sure both sides did in WW2.

Wasn't there a kind of 'gentlemen's agreement' in WW2 that once you had been shot down and were coming down in your parachute you were no longer fair game?

Or dropping your gear even turning out a dogfight was usually enough to show you are out of the fight.

While I'm sure it happened I doubt it was common place, there be no need for pow camps otherwise.
