1/5th throttle mod

does make the car feel more responsive to your foot.

Plenty of people comment that they buy diesel for the mid range responsiveness and acceleration.

Well engage sport on the VXR and with 260 lb/ft under your right foot, you get just that.

With a nice V6 exhaust note instead of a tractor like rattle :D

The sports button is even more noticeable when you've got 369 lb/ft ;)

It's annoying when you're applying constant throttle though and your passengers keep pressing it... it has the effect of you modulating your foot on the accelrator when really you're not moving it at all. Grrrrr

I've been looking at these as well Fluke "Rifelmans"?

my only concern about using one is with the amount of dodgy roads (pot holes and dips due to subsidance) over here. it might make it a bit too Lively. we all know how easy it is the lift the front on the ZX10

yep that's the one :), not so sure either, but anything that makes bike quicker is a good thing...the fitting looks a little scary as you have to hack the cable about if wrong length and also dremmel things in your throttle assembly

your right though, power is already pretty insane especially since i lowered gearing. 3rd gear power wheelies happen 'on the bounce' and 2nd gear always lifts front whatever which can be a PITA as 2nd gear is fast overtaking speed on B roads and you have to short shift to keep front on the tarmac

i think i very rarely get throttle pinned atm, so hope it will make bike feel a lot more lively.

only other thing that might be as fun as this mod will be a quickshifter, you dont see many bikes on the road with them, but they are just crazy and make a lot of difference to the rate you can accelerate

Yep that sounds Like it will be insame with all 3 mods :)
you could always go back to a 17t on the front if its all a bit to much.

let us know the result

be keen to hear your thoughts...

my only concern is that i'd wedge in too much throttle mid-corner?

Dunno... how much also mate?

Nice. I was suprised to find out that i've only really been using 3/4 throttle on my bandit (cue the "you're an idiot" replies). Everyone was like that must be a wheelie machine when you light it up (15t front to 13t) but it didn't seem like it, until I started using the throttle at a 90 degree angle

Might be bit hairy if you want to do a hard launch from stop on a wet day though :)

I have fitted a 1/6 turn throttle on my SP1. The standard 1/4 was silly, very hard to go full throttle without making some kind of body adjustment.

The 1/6 throttle is much better, imo it just makes it like the wifes standard 636 throttle.

Worth every penny on my bike imo.

just fitted the 1/5th throttle conversion and I swear bike now has 20bhp more. Job took about a hour, had to dremmel out throttle housing and the hardest bit was removing thread from throttle cable adjuster without damaging cable inside, but dremmel was fine taking time and doing it slow.

1st gear used to be quite gentle, now it's just plain savage

2nd gear used to be for overtaking with a gentle lift of front on power, now it's there purely to bite my head off and try and spit me off back

3rd gear now is as 2nd used to be, and front gently lifts on throttle im guessing at about 120mph, to much work to be looking at speedo and road at same time

such a little bit of plastic has turned an animal into the devil himself, love it!, best bang for buck mod ever!

/decides against throttle mod :D

I think my blade is plenty enough of a handful for the time being! Enjoy tho mate!

Ive got it flukester :D

Dunno how I missed this thread before :o

It really is a lot of money for a little piece of plastic but its great lol, apparently same effect can be had using a Zip Tie :D

yeah I heard about the zip tie thing, seems abit dodgy though :)

...must admit I was pretty scared of messing with throttle, get it wrong somehow and you'll end up embedded in a wall., but think / hope I done a good job, and even threadlocked the housing back together to be sure. They should make throttles like this from stock :D

now just need some new tyres, back has squared off and front has just worn to weird shape from heavy braking, might hang on abit longer though as summer a fair bit off yet.

haha! Yea I did mine on both paddock stands to be sure :D
The housing bit was easy on mine it was the cable at the throttle bodies end that was a biatch! but all good and had mine about 6 months now no problems, so much better for track riding and long motorway cruising!

Need a new rear for mine too, deciding on either getting a full set of Maxxiss Supermaxx Sport for £150 and then getting some Pirelli Supercorsa pro's for track use or just getting a new rear corsa 3 and ruining them probably quick at anglesey in april :p
Also need whole set of brake discs :/ going go for some 320mm Brembro clubmans at front dunno about rear but thats going to cost about £400 :/ lol damn bikes are expensive! but so worth it :D
Ive got the 04/05 ZX10R Calipers on mine but damn they are expensive on pads, £70 for Road pads and £120 for track pads! :o so think im going to get some R1 Monoblock calipers and a spacer kit and use them :D
Have just got a new Ohlins Steetring Damper though, across the tank style cant wait to fit it haha :D

man, replacing discs is just crazy expensive, in end on the zx12 just got cheaper EBC ones and they were ok though one warped and had to be changed under warranty. Gonna stick with PP 2CTs, but I'm not fast enough on the twisties to even slightly push them to limits... :)

here is piccy of insert installed I stole from someone...
