£10 for 5 MW2 Maps LOL

Whats the big outrage, if you dont like it dont buy it simples. I could understand if they made it a big secrate about inet and the dlc but they didnt.

If they came out and said we sick of people downloading our games and playing on cracked servers we are not going to bother releasing it on pc there would have been a much bigger outrage.

Your average ps3 xbox game costs 40 quid.

I have got 89 hours out of mw2 as well as 10 hours out of the single player and spec ops. Which isnt bad and it longer then most games last me. I still play it now and again. Its always good for a quick bash.

The stuff with dlc on consoles has been happening for years people look at it as a way of extending the life out of their fave games.

I wont be buying the map pack

That was the biggest load of ******** i've read so far in this thread.

How is it a load of ********. If they didnt bother to release it on pc at all there would have been have even more people bitching about it.

I just dont see why theres mass whine about a game, its just a game if you dont like what they doing dont buy it.

Its been out over 5 months and people are still moaning about it.

I was lucky with the game there was a group of people i know who played it about 18 of us in all. One of them had a really good connection and most often then not he hosted. I got a lot of lag free games and enjoymeant out of it as they did. a lot of us got bored after a month or so and moved on. But i think it was more about the cheats and lamers creeping in that we stoped rather then the game its self.

Should be careful about mistaking general disappointment and commentary for moaning and anger.

The reason that people get so disheartened is that MW2 was supposedly one of the biggest titles to hit the gaming scene, yet it lacked aspects that made PC gaming so enjoyable.

The more that companies produce this result with big-name titles, the more we in the PC Games forum will be disheartened by an apparent trend of homogenisation towards console functionality..a condition referred to by many as 'consolitis'.

If this were irrelevant discussion on some random game, then I'd agree with you. But one of the biggest sellers ever in the league of games is inherently relevant for discussion because it becomes a symbol of what gaming is and represents in society.

Yeah thats what i was saying, the whole inet and dlc was hardly a big secret. a lot of people canceled there pre order because of it.

The above poster, you right in what your saying modern warfare is the sorta game that can set trends, with its sales figures alone. I guess pc gamers dont wanna go down that console style road of having to pay for extra content and been limted to using the comapnys own service in there case inet.

I enjoyed the game at the time i didnt have a console, so i would have been more dissapointed i didnt get to play then game then i was with the inet stuff. a lot of the big releases in pc games the past few months have all been on console as well. It may get to the point where they stop realeasing these games on pc all together. I hope that doesnt happen, as it gives designers the chance to show off their games in its full glory.

But console gaming atm is where all the money is we as pc gamers have to expect some of that to fliter in to our domain. Other wise we may miss out on big releases in the future. In the perfect world all games and comapnys would be like valve, still releasing updates and content to tf2 many years after its release. I remeber there was a lot of hate for them for releasing left for dead 2 a year after the first one, a lot of people felt it should have been dlc or a free add on.

What grates most is the increasingly bad value yet increasing numbers of people buying into it.

5 years back £15-£20 would get you an expansion pack which usually added something like a new shorter single player campaign, some more weapons, maybe a new enemy, new MP modes, a few MP maps and so on. Along with that a whole raft of fantastic free user generated content.

Now we get 5 maps, only 3 of which are new for £12.

It's a total rip off in comparison and it saddens me people are lapping this **** up as in the end we'll all end up suffering.

How about because it SHOULD have been a good game that has been completely ruined by nothing more than greed? They added IWNet for no other reason than to eliminate modability so they could release whatever they want at whatever price they wanteda nd in the process, screwed the whole game over by making it impossible to get rid of hackers and even having the 'secure' hosting system get hacked.

MW was ridiculous enough, staying at £40 for well over a year. This is nothing short of greed. The whole game is a rehashed MW and they're even charging £12 for a few maps that unfortunately enough morons out there will buy no questions asked because they don't understand 'value for money'. Taking the biscuit is the fact modders could have created those maps for free, clearly 1 of the reasons the game was locked down.

Yea they did.

They were very cagey about the no dedis/IWnet issue, basically had to pry it from fourzerotwo only a couple of weeks before launch.

Ah i guess i was wrong then, i didnt pre order mine i got mine a few days after launch.

I just remeber reading a lot about the lack of dedicated servers.

@ Evilsod, i found it to be a very good game i enjoyed it more then modern warefare, i think they shot them selfs in the foot with the pc version if they had dedicated servers i think it would have done even better. I would properly still play it now if other games didnt tale my attention up.

As i said i got 100 hours out of it so far and to me thats value for money. The map pack is a rip off, but if they can make money off it they are going to.

crash is a good map but why pay for a laggy version when you have a perfect dedi server one on cod 4 lol :D

i actually while bored put this game back on my steam . thought well i havent played it for a while so you never know :) was greeted first match with instant noobery with the tubes and other bs and blatent hacks then just left it great game :(

thing is battlefield looks ten times better and even plays smoother than that piece of crappola . so why people buy it is pure comdey

How exactly? You do realise they are a business and if they can sell an item for a certain price they will, they're not a charity. If people don't think that it's worth that then they go and buy something else, it's as simple as that. However, a lot of people did go and buy it so it is worth that!

Personally I bought MW1 on 360 second hand for £32 I think it was, loved the single player and completed it quite a few times (it's still sitting on my shelf if I fancy a playthrough) but got bored by the multiplayer pretty quickly. When it came to MW2 I just rented it for the singleplayer, which again I absolutely loved.

See, these "morons" do understand value for money. In fact, the reason Activision feel justified in charging £12 is because these morons are paying £12. Since they're prepared to pay £12, the product is worth £12. This is why footballers get paid £200k a week and it is why a DVD costs £10. People are prepared to pay top dollar for their entertainment and businesses are more than prepared to charge it ;)

I'm surprised it has taken this long for people to figure out

I'm sorry, what made Call of Duty 4 so superior to every other title in the known universe that justified it been kept at £40 for over a year? MW2 is just greed, i've played it and seen people on it and all you can really describe it as is "If Infinite Ward did Unreal Tournament".

The simple fact is your 'business' excuse is a load of ********. A business aims to make profit and where possibly, use that to improve its own products while still offering value to the customer. £12 for 5 maps, some of which aren't even original ones, is a joke, especially considering we got 3 FREE maps on Modern Warfare. If you honestly think thats value for money then you must be 1 of those morons i'm talking about. Whats the next DLCs going to be? Another £12 for a few more maps? They got away with it once, why not offer fewer maps. I have no doubt there are enough retards out there who would happily pay £12 for a single map for IW to still make a profit.

Blimey, people get angy about ridiculous things. If you don't want to pay a tenner for some maps (I don't) then just don't. They can charge whatever they want. Welcome to capitalism.

Just vote with your wallet, and all that.

The problem is we have been spoiled for years with free content for our fav shooters, we have come to expect free maps with most patches so when a publisher comes along and charges us for it we cry fowl.

Absolutely. Curious as to why it's more expensive in real terms than the 360 download though...

What makes it so superior is that people are willing to pay £40 for it, there is nothing else to it. A business aims to make profit...that other bit is rubbish, it just so happens that one way of making profit is offering value to customers to keep them coming back.
