£1000 for a TV - 65" LED or OLED 55"?

With the C9 have less of a panel lottery such as the C7 as @MatsyLR pointed out?
All TV's are subject to the panel lottery, doesn't matter if its OLED, QLED or just a regular bog standard TV. The C7 is no different to the C9 in that regard.

Blooming, banding, tinting, backlight bleed etc are common faults that consumers seem to be okay with for whatever reason.
OLED gets rid of blooming and backlight bleed due to the technology used, but they are still subject to poor manufacturing and quality control that allow banding etc.

The banding however will only be visible on 5% grey slides, it should not be visible on normal content and most the time isn't unless you get a set with really bad thick banding. There are plenty of torture test scenes from tv-shows/movies that allow you to see the banding in "normal content". The grey background on the YouTube app is one I found to be the most annoying.
This one is also a common one, where you can see the banding on the field when its panning

Any panning shot in low light will show banding unless you have a good set with very light banding.

However it all depends on if you are looking for it as once you see it, it cant be unseen. My first couple of sets where really bad to a point where any replacements after I was actively looking for it and completely ruined it.

OLED however is the best option at this point in time for the best image.

Also yes Nexus, I was picky :p but I feel rightfully so. My old Plasma that I still use has a perfectly uniform screen with no faults. I expect any new TV to be the same.

I can deal with oleds traits more than lcds traits.
Totally.
The most annoying being backlight bleed from bottom/top bleeding into the "black" bars for me. Just pure barf.

Thankfully OLED doesn't have any of that nonsense.
MicroLED can't come soon enough :(

Not really any point going 4k 55inch. Avforums and all the 4k advice articles state you should aim for 65 minimum.

Take the hit and get the 65oled. You won't be disappointed, I love mine :)

I spent ages in Richer sounds in December looking at oled/Qled/LED and in the end went for the Qled. The room its in is bright (south facing) and the TV has to handle the widest range of inputs from poor Virgin media SD through to UHD we just felt that the Samsung Q90 (55") was the better for the room.
Its all very subjective but when viewed alongside each other on the same content I felt the Qled had it, especially with the other features (single cable to tv, great app support, HDR etc)

Watched a lot of content over Christmas and continue to be blown away by it. Not sure about needing a 65" to get the best out of 4k, maybe but you certainly notice the step up when you view a great UHD film.

But of course, most of us will love whatever TV we buy :D
