104 on the motorway.

i was caught doing 107 on the motorway at nearly 1am

£70 fine (its means tested so will only be substantially more than that if you earn a lot more than 20k a year) and 28 day ban.

Most they can ban you for is 56 days unless they charge you for dangerous driving or careless driving. Did the officer mention anything about this ?

its people like you who make the penalty system the way it is  just because its 1am you broke the law?... and you have a moan at someone who videos them selves on a bike, not even knowing if they speeded or not??

lol

Better at 1am on an empty motorway than any other time or place.

DM - Check your home insurance policy - if you have legal protection cover it'll almost certainly pay for a solicitor.

Thanks for the suggestion, appreciate that, but im just going to get it up and over with.

If i thought i could slip out of it i would, but i cant so sod it.

Copper let me off for 82 in a 60 on a A Road in the early hours of the morning. He was a nice chap and let me off. must have been the end of his shift and couldn't be bothered with the paperwork. I actually overtook him and he was in a marked car but i didn't see it :p. 10 hour shifts do that to you.

Unlucky, always check who is inside ''the other car'' at 3 am.

These days I don't risk it any more, they won't find me driving more than 30-40kph over the limit even at 3am as I need my license to drive a van at TNT.

lost track of the number fo poofballers that have been caught doing over a ton, and let off with points and a fine, and it's not like they can't afford chauffeurs

3 points for basic speeding a lot of insurance companies dont give a crap about now, because the things are handed out like candy at the fairground, mine said come back when you get to 6, then we'll look at it :p ..... i got a speed awareness caorse, so didnt even pick up the 3 points in the end

I wasnt even cruising at that speed, i was just having a quick burst, i was doing a steady 80 before.

Sometimes cruise control is a good thing, sit it at about that, sit back and enjoy the trip, especially at that time of the morning :P ... it's also good in 30 zones where your paying more attention to looking at road signs etc etc, and you drift to 34 and get a photo of your car in the mail :p

Bad luck for the timing but then it does pay to look at the speedo and a burst to over the ton is no excuse.

See that's even worse! If they observed you for a while they obviously knew you didn't just have your foot to the floor. More like they sat there waiting for you to go over 100 and thought yup time to pull over. Trouble is you can't blame them and you were speeding; bit of a ****** situation!

His car probably didn't help. If it was some Astra they may have observed. However they probably took one look at his car and thought he's probably been caning it all the way.

To be honest looking out for what cars are cops is getting beyond possible now.

Recently seen them in Fords, VWs, BMWs, Lexus, Mercedes, Evos, Subarus, Volvos, list goes on and on!

speeding has nothing to do with it. I wasnt the only one who picked up on his stupid riding. Everybody else in the thread did.

Firestar even went to the trouble of outlining exactly what was wrong with his riding for you

If the video was of him doing 150mph on the M25 at 3am when it was empty i couldnt have given a damn. At that time of the morning theres nothing else around to hit, no other traffic to worry about, and 3 lanes to give you plenty of room.

107 is perfectly safe on an empty straight motorway when its nice and dry.

Just look at this part

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?clien...7&panoid=As8Y5jFGI5oGKSqLEqXtCQ&cbp=12,0,,0,5

look how long that is completely arrow straight for. It only starts to curve as you get down the bottom of the hill which i slowed down for, i was clocked at 107 halfway down the hill while it was still nice and straight.

Its not simply "speeding is bad mmmkay" its about the manor of the driving.

eh?

Explain, I is lost.

If you go over 90 a disqualification of 7 to 28 days becomes one of the three punishments available to the magistrate. Above 100 and a 7 to 56 day ban is an option. It's never automatic.
I posted it sarcastically, as everyone says over 100 is an automatic ban when speeding comes up.

Surely that is the worst thing you can do at that time in the morning? With less things to keep an eye on/control I assume you'd be more likely to fall asleep?

What is it?

true, but if your feeling sleepy then there are other things you can do to stay more alert, depends if your more accustomed to being up at that time of the day i guess, me i find i'm more tired if i've been wandering around int he sun all morning then driving home with the AC on and i can find myself being somewhat more tired than at that sort of time in the morning generally speaking
(falling asleep with the cruise control on is never a good idea though!)

John Barnes had 9 points on his licence and got stopped for no insurance. The cheeky git got away with it too. Any other person would have had the book thrown at them.
