hey guys

1070 in sli
5930k
1440p monitor with gsync

I just bought 2 1070 Asus strix cards

when i received i did a few benchmarks and compared to my 980ti benchmarks (i Had 6 980ti's and compared them all)

Now comparing the the 1070, my 980ti results demolished the 1070s every time by a big margin!

I have higher scores on 3d mark ultra and extreme on the 980ti.

So on Witcher 3 and GTAV i would get around 100fps on 1440p max settings with the 980ti sli

but with my 1070 sli i never go above 65 fps! terrible

Now I upgraded to 1070s because of the mass hype, online benches and people saying they would go to 1070 over the 980ti anytime

I double checked to see if sli was enabled and it is, with vsync off

So why am i getting such a poor performance with my 1070s sli?

Running 1070 solo and sli does not make a difference too !!

Is it crap optimisation? crap drivers ?

what am i missing here, have i done something wrong?

Ive got the latest drivers too, Basically the 1070s sli should be the same or beat the 980ti's in sli but at the moment it feels like a big downgrade, Im kind of wishing that i kept my 980ti's...

What do the cards score individually in 3DMark? I'd start there. Have you set control panel to default settings? i.e no sneaky aa setting is enabled or something.

Why would you go from 980Ti to a 1070, let alone from a Ti SLI setup to 1070 setup. Regardless off the performance difficulties you are having at present, you must have paid a fortune for what is essentially identical performance (slightly higher in dx12 admittedly)

To be fair maybe he likes new tech. As for money it would be a lot to me but I know people who spend 10 times the price of a GPU on a table in a nightclub, so cost is relative.

You should run the MSI Afterburner overlay while benchmarking and see what your video cards are doing (boosting/throttling, usage etc) and work from there.

Out of interest why didn't you get one 1080?

Don't 980tis perform better at higher res than the 1070 hence try it at 1080 probably see greater performance than the 980tis

Dude, on your previous thread you was recommended by many to just grab a single 1070 or 1080 and sit tight for 1080Ti. Why go SLI and cause yourself headache again?

The whole point of sending the 980Ti King Pin's back was so you do not waste money as I recall you feeling "unwell" after buying the 980Ti King Pin's for £500 a piece. But then you go and do it again. Send back one 1070, chill for 6 months and buy a 1080Ti or big Vega and you'll feel right as rain ;)

Who knows. The same people I was alluding to before would argue over the cost of a £10 taxi. Perceived value is an odd thing and not always logical ;)

It is a funny thing - I wouldn't even think twice about paying several hundred over the odds for say a Pascal Titan if it truely gave high end performance but quibble over a 1070 costing £50 more than I feel is value for it :S
