Sooo it appears that they have done the same as they did with the Titan-XP... Looks like they are now only going to be sold direct or certain authorised E-Tailers with a max of 2 units per customer(Or household I cant remember) effective immediately.

Guess that Tesla market is waaaaaaaaaay down..

Total BS, we've got plenty of FE cards and you can buy as many as you wish, until they are sold out! ;)

2 units per customer, they did not tell me.:D

NVidia even used a pic of my 4 way SLI Pascal Titan PC for their Facebook page !!!!

Seriously though at this stage of the game NVidia would be grateful to any E-Tailer who can shift reference 1080 Ti cards in the face of all the non reference ones offering better value/performance.:)

Kaap, which 1080 ti would you recommend? Ideally 650.

There are lots of nice non reference ones about, here are some that are popular

Avoid the founders edition cards as they do run hotter and produce more noise, they also throttle more due to the higher running temps.

Current stock can be sold but going forward I am certain that's the case.

Gibbo, I believe this has come directly from Nvidia (Via My supplier)... We will just move to the Asus Turbo As they are a fantastic card and although it has a plastic blower cooler its not considered a founders edition. ;)

Although they do work better in systems with 4+ Cards that are not watercooled as the blower works well when cards are stacked together.

You mean like in this PC

:D:)

Does that not overheat under load? Or is it just for show/gaming?

They work fine like that. I have built and sold probably 20 fully stacked workstations with no issues as well as about the same with 8xGPU in rack systems without an issue or failure. Now they are not the quietest systems by a long shot but they are purpose built and unless you go to the expense and time of fully watercooling the noise is a by product/trade off.

Yeah I use an FE and the heat is vented directly out the back. It's noisy (especially with an aggressive fan profile at this time of the year in the UK) but it's more effective than it looks.

They run poorly on air and are bad for the other components in your system like the motherboard and RAM. This can lead to system crashes without warning.

With 4 cards watercooling is a must or they will throttle, the cards in the PC pictured above are now all watercooled which brings a noticeable improvement in performance/temps and noise levels.

I don't agree. With Sufficient Air cooling they work fine in the test environment and field. As a matter of fact one of our customers has just ordered a new workstation with 4x1080ti as their other 2 have been running perfectly stable (normal 1080 x4) You just have to ensure that the hot air is expelled. I have ran nbody simulations (Which kick the crap out of the cards) overnight without crash or any sort of failure.

That can't be right at all, there are hundreds of thousands of FEs in the wild and they run fine without issue. If it's like you say, we would be hearing about class action lawsuits and mass recalls by now.

My FE is heavily overclocked (+155 on the core, +520 on the memory) and hasn't had a single crash or bug at those settings at all.

I think he is referring to when your running multiple of them with the generated heat having a knock on impact on other components within the case, not the GPU themselves having issues.

While I don't run four, I do run a Trio and under a heavy load over a period of time, there is a pretty noticeable impact in terms of temps and stability on some of my other components, mainly motherboard which does affect stability somewhat. Man where is that external rad I ordered :o

Any deals? Anything new incoming?

No deals on FE, the price is the price and the lowest we drop them to on specials is £649.99, which is £20 cheaper than buying direct from NVIDIA and our customer service is better and guaranteed next day delivery.
