10megtastic

if its ntl your talking about the 75 gig doesnt apply,

i've been hitting 200 gig/month for the last 4 months and they havent batted an eyelid

200 gig/month? How do you do it? What do you do with it

I surf the net regularly, play games online and buy songs and download them off the internet, yet I use no more than 3-5gb/month!
Yet i'm paying for unlimited. So i'm going to downgrade to a 25Gb/month service

Dont be naive eXSBass, there is little point asking what someone does with 200GB b/w in a month.

They appear to be fairly lenient, but if policy says if you keep going over the limit, and by a lot, they will change your service to a much slower package (if memory serves me right, 512k down / 64k up).

I am toying with the idea but do appeox 85 gigs a month - upping more thanI download tbh

this includes working from home and leisure use...

What happens if I reach my monthly usage allowance?
Over the next 12 months, ntl will provide tools to allow you to measure your data usage. When these tools are available, if you approach your data allowance, you will be able to:
reduce your data usage for the remainder of the month or
re-grade to a tier of service with a higher usage allowance.

Until these tools are available, ntl will monitor usage but not apply the monthly usage allowances, except in cases where heavy use is affecting network performance.

Interestingly I rang the order line and the lady there is telling me:

- it is being sold as unlimited at the moment
- they guarantee 10meg
- they offer 3meg upload
- installation to any part of the house is free

is this correct ???

I am in wgc herts, Zap off these forums should be upgraded too, he is just around the corner. Sadly the upstream is still pretty poor imho. And I am still have probs with my modem crashing

Where are you in the country.
Matty, give NTL a ring tommorow and ask to be upgraded. I'm north manchester with you, I did that, and they finally did it. I've tried many times before but they couldn't, but i tried last week and it worked :)

Are there still people who aren't upgraded then? I'm in Basingstoke and I've had 10mbit for about 3 months now - I would've thought that Basingstoke would be one of the last places they'd upgrade. It was completely automatic.

matty & a random name

what is the service like ?
do you get 10 meg ? (or not)
what are pings like ?
are you using the allowances?

cheers

3mb upload? Are you sure? Sounds a bit high to be honest...Mymate has 10mb and only gets 768k upload speeds?

Id love it to be right:)
