I like the one quoteSounds like there's a general increase in shoplifting this year:

Shoplifting in Newcastle city centre higher than almost anywhere else in country

At the same time, security firms are reporting a “massive increase in pensioners shoplifting” driven by cost-of-living pressures. John Nussbaum, director of service for retail for security services provider Kingdom Service, told PA News: “For us over the last 12 months, we’ve got this different level of crime now. We’re now experiencing something different—pensioners, people who don’t normally shoplift.”
Newcastle? sometimes you will see them on foot walking through parks etc but only when it's summer and really nice weather.. it's not a patrol it's a nice summer walk during police time.Just saw 2 walking coppers in town and nearly asked. Why arnt you out and about after 3pm and weekends, holidays. Its always quietest time of day i see you.
I once cycled along the coast road as well and saw about 10 cops stood at the side of the road looking at the beach etc....
The thing is they are on what's basically a cliff edge and wouldn't be able to get down to the actual beach anytime soon if anything kicked off.
they aren't there to police, it's obvious....
Police force is the middle class dole office
