12 to 15 year old gangs

As long as it not happening to you?. As said these have been going up to people smaller then them with knifes, snapping skateboards in have half taking people bikes.

Again, you're all over the place with this. No, people have said things to me in the street and it hasn't made me want to hit them.

You've now moved on to people being threatened with knives, etc., or having their personal property damaged or stolen. The law already covers people acting in self-defence in such situations, regardless of age.

Because all this is happening

Not entirely related to this thread but i saw knife crime has seen a 20% reduction in London this past year. Residential burglaries, personal thefts and personal robberies all down as well.

We understand that, the point was whether or not you should be able to hit these kids based on their actions without facing consequences. There's a big difference between giving someone a slap because they said something you didn't like and doing it because they pulled a knife on you or tried to steal something. Having said that, I'm not sure that hitting someone with a knife is a good idea, especially if they're in a group.

I suppose this idea of 'without consequences' comes into it as well, because there are legal consequences and then there are the consequences outside of the law. I don't think allowing adults to hit children for swearing or goading them would have the desired effect. Many children are still beaten by their parents and it doesn't put them right, many just become violent themselves and think that lashing out physically is the answer to any situation in which they feel wronged.

If police and courts or even parents and schools taught them right they wouldn’t be like this. They need to respect peoples space going up to old and vulnerable is not on.

Question are any children's prisons still around?

Yes, there are still Young Offender Institutions. The Borstals were officially abolished in 1982 though. Nowadays, there's a focus on alternatives to custody, including intensive probation and other diversionary programs.

But at the end of the day, it's rubbish parenting which is the root cause of this problem. Most children nowadays receive no discipline whatsoever. When I was a boy, being beaten with a leather belt or a garden cane for misbehaviour was no big deal, nowadays it's child abuse.

BDSM

Just kidding, Yer i would get flat hand. i think it is a bit of both, parents and the government policies ( schools).

Also a lot of school teachers say same. I bet even more dont go back to teaching this September. A lot have been off with how bad these feral teens are in schools. Some schools are full of Substitute teachers due to this and they dont last long either. It just gone out of control because kids cant be punished these. A parent hits or even shouts at a child they will screamed abuse and it be parent getting done for child abuse.
