I agree, and I think people need to be realistic and recognise that kids are going to have sex, and they aren't going to refrain simply because we forbid it. In fact forbidding it could even be counter productive, as they'll do it anyway but without proper safeguards etc.

I don't consider 'being there a long time' as a valid excuse for ignoring a law. Perhaps if some of these cases were prosecuted it would set an example to the young people of today who, quite frankly, either act like feral animals rutting at every opportunity or are so stupid that they are not aware of the basic biological function that sex actually represents.

Is there a legal basis behind ignoring the law if both parties are underage?

No, believe me i agree with you that its stupid but it's the truth. To be honest if people under 16 had been procecuted it still wouldn't have stopped me. The thought of gettig pregnant and ruining my life would. Maybe instead of going all 'the law' they should be made to understand the implications of getting pregnant or getting someone pregnant, because at the moment all we get told it the is sex have sex have babies if you dont use contriception.

Ive never been forbidden of sex or having girl friends.
I just simply dont feel the need to have it and im going to stay that way until i find someone i really love and could have a chance of spending the rest of my life with.
Ive always known the dangers of it and if they get taught that it might help them a bit.
But these days sex isnt as intimate as it used to be and its just used and abused for fun.
People these days also dont have self worth and even if you try and stop them they are going to try even harder to do the opposite to what you want.

Nice generalisation there :p Do you think that people in the past only had sex for romantic reasons but in recent years people have started doing it just for fun? :D

If you pass well done, you are intelligent, you can go to a nice school and meet nice people, get a nice job and do nice things.

If you fail, sterilise them, then get them treading giant hampster wheels to solve the nations power generating problems.
