130mph web video biker is jailed

I can't see how anyone can think this is a fair punishment when people jailed for assault/GBH/burglary are being released early or with just a slap on the wrist.

Also as Fox said, a lot of people you see on "certain" programmes who go on a wild police chase, cause a trail of destruction and then when caught, get disqualified but freed to just carry on.

I'm not condoning what he did, but the punishment is quite frankly a joke. The justice system needs a kick in the nads with steel toecapped boots, tbh.
Is there not some value in making an example to others out of someone? Personally I'm in favour of the odd "strange" sentence - would make people think twice about whether they are prepared to break the Law based on their assessment of the likely penalty if caught.

Video is on pistonheads now

Someone said the following on there forums which i think sums it up in a lovley lovley way

What he should've done is smashed someone's face in outside a pub and lured some OAP's into giving him their life savings, then he would've only got six weeks.

Although clearly he's not the brightest spark!

What a bloody joke this country is

Should have kept his mouth shut

"Before officers had a chance to question Ferenci about the alleged offences, the young tearaway asked them: “Is this about the YouTube video?” Only then did police discover the evidence they required to justify two charges of dangerous driving"

Hes still an idiot but watching the video, at least he was doing his 'stunts' on quiet roads, most of the time the car around is the one recording him.

btw, whats the time and place then ?, just track days ?
Karting, private roads and one's with good visibility would be my preference.

I fully support people giving it some but (as in the case of the cyclist going to jail) wheelies, excessive speed and encraoching on the wrong side of the road on some sections of our public highway is simply intolerable.

if you can see round corner and / or know there are no turnings / dangers / other road users ahead, give it loads!
If you remove the 'and' from your 'and/or' then is that to say you would give it loads round a blind corner as long as you know there are no turnings / dangers / other road users ahead?

Interested to hear how you'd deal with unsighted obstacles you would not normally expect.

Having had oncoming pedestrians on the inside of a tight country lane not to mention many deer and other animals crossing the road avoiding these at speed is basically impossible.

You just seem a tad too 'speed is awesome OMG' in my opinion.

12 weeks lol, what a joke, shouldn't have bothered doing him.

Like that lad on Traffic Cops who threw that beer can through a church window smashing some old lady in the face, and then giving a guy trying to catch him a kicking, i had to laugh when all he got was a warning, **** me, he better not do that again, scares the **** out of you that does, having a policeman wagging his finger at you saying "don't do that again, naughty boy", id have filled me pants i would, id be having nightmares everynight, be terrifying that, id deffo not do it again thats for sure.

What I dont get is a user of the forum sister gets done for drink driving, crashies into thing with a kid in the car and gets 6 weeks, when this guy who is prolly a better rider than most ( I know hes a tool for doing it but it takes some skill to do that) gets 12 weeks, I mean WTF?

I missed this post. That certainly puts it into perspective. Although they were both sentenced under two different legal systems, it does highlight anomalies in sentencing.

You got that wrong:

10 print "pull wheelies, ride fast, grin lots"
20 if wheelie then goto 60
30 if ride fast then goto 70
40 if grin lots then goto 90
50 goto 10
60 get points then goto 10
70 make video
80 get bike crushed
90 jail then goto 110
90 falloff then goto 10
110 buy new bike then goto 10

Syntax Error: You have two 90s.

Is your point that it's not possible to get your bike crushed?

speed is good fun in the right place... and the faster the more thrill.

can't remember the last time I came across a unexpected obstacle / ped / whatever in the road and almost hit it... thats why you read the road ahead so it never happens.

if you do come across 'unexpected' things that take you by surprise I suggest your too busy playing with your stereo or mobile ;) (or maybe got your heater up and seat in recline postition)

thats the good thing about bikes, you never feel yaself nodding off like in a car.. it keeps you concentrated on the job in hand, and thus makes you more focused and in many ways safer.

That is laughable - so you've never met an obstacle therefore it will be ok. Not sure how your xray vision works for those pesky unsighted pedestrians. ;)

Ultimately it's not that you're a poor driver/rider - you are obviously an enthusiast who enjoys the machine you've bought. But you give the impression from a good deal of your comments that you are prepared to do very high speeds and perform wheelies in instances that you deem appropriately safe.

I personally find this pretty hard to stomach as i have seen individuals do this and very nearly get into very messy scrapes.

Feel free to think and act like that i just hope you never get cought out while doing one of your safe high speed manouvres. :(

Its not even worth the effort mate - he's still got the 'I'm god's gift to driving' attitude that most people grew out of in their first few years of driving.

He doesn't seem to realise that most people don't have a problem with simply 'exceeding the speed limit' - as most of us will do it regularly. It's his attitude to speeding that makes him look like and idiot, imo.

You just seem a tad too 'speed is awesome OMG' in my opinion.

Exactly.

what I'm saying is like everyone else on the road I try and read ahead to avoid surprises... surprises that would occur like you say on a blind bend with excess speed.

i can honestly not remember the last time something surprised me riding.. other than the odd sleeper that has a lot more power than it should ;)

is everyone here really so sensible ?, all stick to speed limits ?, don't have fun on b roads ?

maybe there is a few 'norman normals' here, but I rekon most here are keeping quiet because it's the 'PC' thing to do.

Exactly.

I'm nothing special in way of skills, have never said I am... but a modern sports bike is so capable I could never even push it's limits if I tried. (i have 1cm chicken strips on rear tyre so what)

It's attidudes like yours that forms long queues of slow moving traffic on country roads every Sunday :)

So you do exceed limits ?, then you are no better than me... why do you speed ?, what is your excuse ? (mine is purely fun)

:), you forgot...

15 print "annoy people on interweb forums by telling them you speed for fun (where safe(TM))"

Go and pick up any bike magazine and they are full of the journalists pulling wheelies and no doubt going very fast on the road. The guy must have admitted it was him otherwise the police would not have had a chance of proving it was him I would have thought?

Doubtful.

Of course I do, but you totally seem to miss the point. It's your attitude in your posts that makes you come across like a teenager who's just discovered driving for the first time.

As gt already said - 'You just seem a tad too 'speed is awesome OMG' in my opinion.'

:D

In response to your post above - i'm glad you do take care. I was only responding to some of your other posts that suggested you perhaps rode a touch too fast a touch too often.

Living in the lake district as i do i have seen many crazy riders as well as their crashed bikes. I know how unforgiving roads can be - especially for bikes travelling fast.
