I was ready to wade in here and call everyone sad for taking screenshots of 1337 posts.

Then I found these on my HDD which, IMHO, are worse :(

Big assault rifle thingys with grenade launchers attached. There weren't any Commissarios pre-nuke (IIRC) and Spie had Marlon Brando.

haha, i was talking about this the other day. me and the girlfriend talk in l33tspeak to each other, not for any good reason either...it's just funny to say it (well, i think it's funny anyway)

also, omg at all the people who screen-capped their 1337th post :rolleyes::p

Have you not read the rest of the thread? It stands for leet as in elite or skillful in the normal sense.

Also I have to admit to being sad enough to screencap my reaching 1337 status on here but I can't post it because it isn't on this PC. :o
 
back in the day there was a game called "ELITE" its a space sim, hard as hell to get to the top level called "elite" its basicaly derived from that.
 
Me and my mates back home all 'leet' and 'pwned' and 'tee bee haitch' and 'lol' occasionaly.

I find it rather funny, tee bee haitch, n00b.



Edit: I've got a screenshot of my 1,337th post too, but i'm at work 'a tee em'.

I had this problem the other month while talking to someone in the IT dept... I answered the call...

Me: "Oh hello! LOL your extension is '1337'! ROFL, didn't realise that til now..."
IT: "Realise what?"
Me: "Well you know its funny."
IT: "Why?"
Me: "1337 as in 'Leet' as in 'Elite', Hackers language and all that?!"
IT: "Eh? Never heard of that..."
Me: ":confused: ?!?!?!11!!!!1one one one.... Nevermind."

Then we went on to have the conversation why she called me, probably remotely checking my desktop in the process and seeing whether I was a 1337 4a><0rz or something.

By the way when I say she, that is not the reason why she didn't know...she knows her stuff as far as IT goes...the blokes in IT would probably know wtf I was on about.

Was probably done deliberately by them but then again they are not the types to do that kinda thing.
