I was awoken by a huge clap the other day, precisely 1min before my alarm was set to go off. :)

The worst/loudest I have heard were twice in one day, it was a dry storm, no rain only lighting, it struck our school tower whilst I was in the classroom below it, everyone in the room ducked under their desks lol. Then on the way home, it was still going on.. we were all looking up watching it in awe, then whilst we were walking through some playing fields, a bolt struck the field.. we actually felt the electricity from the floor and it was so loud we were all deaf for a few minutes after, but none of us noticed becuase we were too busy crapping it and running to get indoors, it couldn't have been more than 30ft away. I still regard it as one of the best things I have ever seen. :)

Just heard the first rumble of thunder in the distance now I'm home from work. Damnit, just get here already!

It's been storming for about the last 5 hours, just shot this dodgy video with my camera. I couldn't get out any further onto the balcony otherwise I'd have been soaked by the rain. It's a shame it didn't pick up the thunder claps clearly :(

I think something close just got hit as the entire room lit up and the loudest clap of thunder I've ever heard :D

edit: The Empire State has definitely just been hit a couple of times .o/

Oh no, saw this thread pop back up and it's confirmed my worst thoughts - that we are indeed in for another massive storm.

I was up from 4am mopping water from my garage floor using only small towels and sponges. I managed to fill TEN large 80litre buckets. Imgaine squeezing near 1000 litres through sponges and wringing out tiny towels over 6 hours and it's pretty easy to see why I'm not looking forward to this :(

Oh so you're in the US?

It's still flippin' gorgeous here in sunny old Rotherham, blue skies and hardly a cloud in the sky :)

Hope it stays like this to be honest. Although I won't complain if it's a proper big thunderstorm, the big ones are pretty impressive

Nothing here too :(

Here's a cool gif from Wiki:

I've been near a few strikes in the past, only 1 of them was really scary, it hit a house that was about 150 feet from ours, but when it hit it was like a bomb had gone off, literally!

Heard a massive bang and rumble which was that loud that when I had gotten up and walked to my window it was still vibrating heavily!

No surprise after seeing what it had done to the house it had hit nxt day though, pretty much took the whole roof off, which was a pretty rare thing as it wasn't even that tall of a building (3 floors i think), and theres a few churches not far from it with lighning rods

WOAH

We're having a thunderstorm here and boy did it catch me off guard, when my speaker made a loud crackling noise out of the blue :o

It's raining so much now :(
