my god you people really do my nut in, in this particular instance MR C has been proven wrong just face it, he has posted up yet another piece of anti Nvidia news that we can say is blatantly not true due to fatboy categorically denying it.

you all just love to bash Nvidia for every thing and anything.

they themselves give us enough reasons to bash them without having to listen to Mr C's anti Nvidia propaganda.

"Mr C" hasn't been proven wrong, I woudl hazard a guess he's talking about AIB's, not retailers. He's saying for AIB's, IE, EVGA, XFX, Asus, to get 470/480gtx's, they have to agree to buy a bunch of their other cards that they basically can't sell right now. Meaning if theres around 90-120k 470/480gtx's available to AIB's, that means several million sales of cheap parts they can't ditch. As for Fatboy saying OCUK aren't included in that, as someone said, he simply doesn't work here or deal in UK terms, theres very little reason he would know the individual situation of uk retailers. THe US has a hugely higher number of large scale retailers compared to here and its far more likely for there to be not enough stock to go to every store and a way to limit the stores getting them so some get decent quantitys makes sense. UK maybe 5 real stores that get the newest stuff in with decent numbers. US will have 100 stores like that, better to send 2k each to 10 stores, than 50 each to all 100 stores. Getting rid of junk is just a postitive side effect.

As for being Anti-nvidia, YOU are interpreting his NEWS as anti-nvidia.

Selling one product while pushing other products on your customers is a pretty damned standard tactic. Its interesting news, it gives you an idea of how many parts were left in the warehouse after all the rebranding left them ruddy hard to sell and gives you an idea of just how hard up AIB's are in getting 470/480gtx's.

Way WAY to much is made about his anti-nvidia ness. He's very anti lying, signing NDA's in general, not just against Nvidia, he's had a go at other companies for doing the same thing. Again I'll point out he was all over the 2900xt situation. If you can name a huge screw up by AMD in the past 2 years, and one that Charlie didn't cover, you might have a point.

He's covered at LENGTH the faults/lack of competition on AMD cpu's, other than value/performance ratios in articles and on the forum.

Nvidia are simply in the news, theres dozens of pro Nvidia sites that still speak almost nothing except about Fermi. Yet when they report Fermi news, even bad Fermi news, its not anti-Nvidia? If Nvidia had a perfect launch and made zero mistakes and did nothing dodgey and Charlie made up crap about them, that would be one thing. But thats simply not the situation here.

"NVIDIA IS TWISTING the arms of e-tailers over GTX480s, forcing them to clean out the warehouses of old inventory if they want the new cards. If you want any allocations of the GTX470 or GTX480, be prepared to buy lots of low end cards."

I'm not sure that practise would fly with our competition laws....... Charlie is American and most of them don't know we even exist, apart from knowing us as the little island they saved in the war. Why should he be any different?

Who'd have thought buying a 5970 was a great investment...

If 480 does perform just very slightly better than 5870, it means they will never be able able to make a decent 2 chip card with it to really kick 5970.

But to be fair over 500 quid for a graphics card is hardly an investment :)

Its not just a huge increase in speed that this series of cards brings over the ati competition.

But a whole new range of AA and AF settings and other image improvements compared to ati.

Can you back that up by any chance? Your post sounds like an nVidia press release.

Evidence for the 'huge increase' perhaps?
Details of 'image improvements' maybe?

so, those last slides, "if true".

Even if they are cherry picked, thats a long list of popular games that can be pretty demanding, and nvidia wins them all. I find it hard to believe tbh, and I REALLY want to believe it. Still, only one more day to go, maybe less since th US NDA gets lifted before ours doesnt it? Meaning could we see reviews (as they will already be written no?) before midnight? Or is is that it just seems to be before ours, cause they are behind us?

If those numbers are true, I'll be happy to replace my quad with dual, and then maybe tri later once the prices come down....in about 3 years lol

Imo £300 for the 470, and £450 for the 480.

Any more and even nvidia fanboys would avoid.

I really hope its a success because i'm literally forced to go nvidia because of ati's STUPID drivers not supporting 120hz on the 5*** cards.

Are you saying fatboy is lying?

No, I said what I said in my post.

He's a salesman, he's going to try and give you the best impression of an item he can.

This thread in itself is designed to create hype to get people "Pumped" about buying whatever cards they're getting in.

Baring in mind that it's enthusiasts that are going to be buying these cards when they're in, what do you expect?
