• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

;)

my gut instinct is zotac and likes of things like gigabyte will be in the 430 range and things like asus/vtx may reach 399-400. this is actually quite good to say the 7970 was launched at around 499, hopefully 680 will drop further when more stock is produced

There IS places who will sell them cheaper;) just look better...
Friend of mine have GTX280 and Q6600,so he will be upgrading to 2700K and GTX680,will have to build pc for him, cant wait to get my hands on it..he just dont want stock cards (something from Asus DCII or MSI TF III) so he must wait
as for price - after 4-5 weeks they fall, when non-standart models appear
And knowing, that this is NOT true High-End from Nvidia (yet makes 7970 look like middle end) makes me smile. A lot :D

i agree got 4-5 tabs open with my usual places

any for £370 or less and im sold

Remember our competitor talk rules guys.

Our pricing shall be competitive, remember anyone can advertise a price with no stock.

We have stock, some competitors do and I am sure our pricing will be competitive against those also with stock. :)

oops sorry about that

OK we need to come up with a name for this generation noting how much of a rip off it is.

£430 for a GTX 680? This means it is unlikely that AMD's already ludicrous prices will shift at all. This is a lose-lose for us consumers. If it is due to a lack of supply from TSMC and the supply does get better as they are already addressing the issue, it's not likely we're going to see the saving passed on to us.

I don't give a damn about who makes it, fact is price : performance has stagnated with this generation.

remains to be seen if that's the cheapest option OCUK have I suppose, but if that is the cheapest it puts the cheapest 680 as slightly more expensive than the cheapest 7970 elsewhere.

Having said that, it is launch day pricing and as Gibbo says they have stock, you're always going to pay a slight premium for that which if you're keen to have the latest and greatest is fine and to be expected.

In any case given the 680 and 7970 are pretty similar performance in the real world I don't think anyone should be surprised if they are priced at similar levels. The speculation of 7970s at £430 and comparative 680s at £370 was never likely imo, there's no reason for nvidia, the AIB manufacturers and retailers to price at that level with nothing else competitive on the horizon.

We could all be wrong and Gibbos playing with us - real prices coming soon :)

Well a difference of £2-3 is "competitive" in the loosest sense of the word I think.

Everyone should shop around and ask yourself if a difference of a day is worth the £25 probably charged.
