.

that's some impressive weight for starting!

45 OHP? I'm on 37.5 after a month :p

were you lifting before starting this routine?

Been going casually for about a year, never really knew what I was doing though or had a routine. Went between 1-2 times a week.

I'm suffering from guttate psoriasis at the moment do really not keen on putting up pics. Will do if it clears.

Subscribed as we're in the same boat. I'm also the same age, height and we're lifting about the same weight.

I'm looking to start a more serious routine after 12 months of lifting with no aim or purpose. Also looking to sort my diet out :)

Awesome. Put up a thread and we can compare notes.

I'll get some videos up of my lift for critique in the next week.

My goals are very loose, try hard and see what happens.

Diet is absolutely horrendous and I'm far too lazy to change that at the moment.

If you don't address this sooner rather then later you may find progress slow going, unless you eat lots but just junk, and then you might find fat gains along side strength gains. Good numbers to start from so will be interesting to see how you progress.

Your starting OHP is better than my best efforts after a month

Also for the record I've witnessed Kreeeee doing 1 legged bodyweight squats :D

I'm fat enough already. I'm a fussy eater so I also eat a limited range of foods.

Psymonkee, I can do that only with my weaker left leg as I had exercises to do for a knee injury that gave me the flexibility needed.

Edit: just got the gf to take a load of pics, but the psoriasis looks so bad :(

Hmm, ok. I'll post them when I get home tonight.

Should I be doing 1 set of deadlifts for the 5x5? Doing 5 sets feels great.

I think I've started this 5x5 wrong too, as the starting weight isn't that far off my maximum lift. I think I'll just stick with it though as squatting 50Kg etc is a complete waste of time. I'll just do the usual drop 10% when I fail 3 times in a row on an exercise as suggested.

Going to be doing dips/wide arm pullups and ab exercises along with the 5x5.

if you're already really close to your maximum 5 rep max, just knock 20kg off each lift, and then start progressing it up. You'll still gain strength at sub-maximal weights :)

I'd do at least 3 sets of deads (I know the routine says 1, but you're not a phaggot). If you feel like you got more in you, do the other sets, but don't measure those two sets if you fail.

This. If you've got the cojones to train properly and the strength as outlined in the OP< then it would be a shame to see potential gainz blunted by poor nutrition.

Very cool, even if this is only a matter of balance rather than strength for people that train. :D

I suspected that you had overlooked that stronglift starts you way below your maxs, 45kg OHP starting, what a natural beast! :p

Knock at least a months worth off your max - I think the guide actually suggests knocking off even more.

Why don't you ascertain your 5 rep Max's this week and start properly next week. Then you'll know for sure and doing 5 rep Max's is fun :)
