I can store the bike at my mothers until spring next year to sell it, or keep it for whenever I'm in the UK!

That's the bike that got me into bikes, the sounds is immense. But perhaps not for me just yet :p

Anything I should look out for in particular, here is my check list so far:
-MOT results and next due
-Tax due
-Tyres last replaced
-Last service and next due
-Have log book (V5C)
-Have manual & service receipts
-He had a HPI check a year ago and still has it, but I will perform another one.
-Reason for sale
-Arranged a test ride (He has a 1 year old baby and getting out of biking)

We have communicated a lot and he sent through a bunch of extra photos. He seems like a nice genuine chap too.
 
just give it a good look over and check the brakes/steering(no notchyness) listen to the engine for any unusal knocks or rattles

that's pretty much it,look at the overall condition and haggle if you can on any faults

best lock you can buy is the almax chain n lock but its heavy
 
Weight isn't an issue for a chain to use in the underground parking at home, but is there anything you can recommend for portable use?
 
Looks like that bike needs an MOT in a months time. Would this scare you off at all, would you ask for a price reduction, or would you ask for the MOT to be performed before purchasing?

mot should be ok imo,just check tyre treads suspension/electrics/wheel bearings/steering

wheel bearings you grip the wheel at 3 and 9 o clock and wove it from side to side checking for any free play

I don't know any lighter decent lighter chains

Mine is a 2008 with 8200 miles for £2400.00 although that was really cheap.
You can get them usually for around £2900.00 with around 15,000 miles.

Mine come with genuine panniers also.

They're good on fuel avg 65mpg and have a good sized fuel tank - can't quite remember but a range of around 150 - 200 miles I think.
Cheap to insure and are pretty good at 2up apparently.
Mine doesn't have ABS though, if I was going looking for one again I would try to find one with ABS.

I doubt you'd get 1 day havign just past your test and I'm not even sure if companies offer this anymore.
 
I couldn't find any when I tried,only way is to pay on instalments and cancel it if when required but they charge daft cancellation fees ect

ebike don't do it anymore last time I looked

Looks a straight bike to me but it's hard to tell for sure by 1 pic, Did you go & view it ?
From the Advert it sounds great low mileage New Rubber. :cool:
Also if you can't get insurance just take a lid with you & get him to take you out on it. Before you leave just ask him to take you up & down through all the gears, Sit at a decent cruising speed & thrown in a few emergency stops, Not harsh ones, You get me ?

If you don't go for this one & find summit in my manor I'd check it out with/for you no probs. :)
 
Had no joy at all with the 1 day insurance, everywhere seems to have stopped doing it :(

I'm viewing it at 1830 tonight, but can't ride pillion unless he swaps the seat back.

Doesn't look like he rides it that hard going by the chicken strip on the front tyre (Know the tyre is nearly new but you can still see the strip & how far he takes it) so that's good I s'pose, Hate those tacky Halford rear lights though.

Does he have a problem fitting the other seat for a test ride then ? If so tell him that you'll come down show him the cash & wait for him to change it if he's worried you are a Messa

Yep, I couldn't find anywhere that did it either and spent a long time looking.

There is no way I would even consider going pillion with someone I didn't know and trust implicitly. If he's never taken a pillion before I doubt he would be very keen either.

Have you got a friend with a full licence that would be covered to ride it third party?
