.

I do (mother's boyfriend), but I'm not sure on his availability as he's a truck driver and has some interesting shift patterns.

I'll post a full report when I get home, but this sv650s has been cared for by a very nice chap, and will be my first bike!

Hmm, a full HPI check shows some anomalies with the mileage in 2006/2007:

This completes the test history for the above vehicle as recorded on VOSA's MOT Computerisation Database

The chap had no idea what it was about as his HPI check from 3 years ago was clear, which he showed me. He was a very genuine guy who really cared for the bike, so I think this news was surprising and a bit disappointing for him. Thoughts?

Obvious answer is the bikes been clocked. :( Any doubts at all just walk away, There's plenty of other bikes that will be just as perfect for you.

Pity people still do this.

It's shows how much of an issue mileage is when it comes to resale on bikes, their desirability just plummets after 20k.

Such a shame, other than that it's a fantastic example. I would have still bought it with another 10k on the clock.

At least you found out Before you bought it. But yer you're are right another 10k with the bike still in that condition wouldn't have hurt the price much at all.
Bit Gutted for the current owner as well if he didn't know before you told him, He'll have to Fess up now & people will kick him in the sacks on the price.

He had no idea, his HPI check was clear and the bike was his baby.

I suppose this may give him the ammunition needed to convince his girlfriend that he shouldn't sell, so it may end up being good for him.

Or he's rubbing his hands in an angry manner saying

"I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky HPI checks"

Scooby Doo style.

if he did clock it hes a bit thick, obv its gonna get spotted

EDIT: you should have said ill buy it but for £1500,26k miles is nothing tbh

lol at some of the mot failure excuses

"missing rear reflector" that's when you know u got a wally mot place/tester

Could be nothing. My bike has a mileage discrepancy as the tester wrote it down wrong one year, then right the next year so the mileage goes down. Lucky I'm not going to sell the thing. It relies on manual entry, there must be plenty of bikes and cars that looked clocked but are just a mistake.

But, saying that, I would avoid. You never know what happened unfortunately.

Also would you really clock only 3k? Wouldn't have thought 13k to 10k would make much of a difference to the selling price?

[Edit]
Looking more closely, it does look a little dodgy... the way it went from 13 to 10.6 then 10. Isn't a mistake on the MOT cert then :(

I would have thought the DVLA picked this sort of stuff up? It's not hard to add a check to a database like that. Surely their system would flag it up if they input 13k then 10k a few years later.

Hmm, none of the MOT history (quoted in full above) has anything about an odometer change.

That 13 to 10.6 to 10 is based on different sources. The values I type into the HPI check for mileage show up as NMR, so I could put 50,000 miles in today and it would add a new line for the 24th with 50,000 miles.

It's the 13 to 10 in the picture and the mileage change from 17 to 9 in the MOT history that's weird.
