no it doesn't turn out is typically 60% most seats win in the kind of 30% of the votes region, so if the other 40% rock up they decide who wins if they get together. hell if half of them turn up and vote for the third place guy he's pretty much going to win.
not turning up just guarantees you're not represented.
Loyal voters and non voters are two groups any politician can safely ignore, which means minority groups with no loyalties that make it clear they'll move to anyone who supports their point are pandered to.

Lol Tracking people communicating on world of craft!
OMG he stole my +5 axe, arrest him!
With the internet spying/secret trials, cash for access scandle, fuel hike, min price for alcohol - it's like the Tory's are desperate to lose the next election with unpopular policy after unpopular policy.
It was only a +5! You noob!
Heh, I was thinking that - and the austerity cuts haven't really bit yet. So by the time we get to the next election the Tories will be hated, Labour still even more, the Lib Dems just a joke...turnout is going to be so low
Maybe the Tories can actually see how bad things will be and don't want to be carrying the can when it goes off
Did you vote for or against AV?.I hate our voting system, it means that only the three main parties stand a chance.
What's the point in me voting when I don't support any of the three main parties? It effectively means I have no voting power.
Totally agree with this sentiment. That really only works in exceptional circumstances, those in the area knew that he had a lot of support. If there was support in my area then I would bother voting otherwise it's completely wasted. If we had PR then I would always vote. A minority of voters should = a minority of seats, it doesn't and until the party I support is a majority in a single constituency, my vote is always going to be wasted.
LOL at everyone who voted for the Tories in the vain hope that they'd offer 'small government' and 'restore our civil liberties.'
They're turning out to be far worse than Labour ever were.
To be fair, the nanny state element was the one thing I hated most about Labour (as a left-libertarian) - now they Tory's have absolutely everything I despise about a political party under one roof.I have to be honest I'm a bit in shock this week. I expected this **** from the Labour camp but i never thought that this would come from the Tory bench. But it wasn't a vain hope, they've always had a good record on civil liberties before and i honestly believed they would reverse what Labour has done.
It's all very strange and a bit suspect as not only was it very sudden, but they were going to try to ram this through very very quickly before people would be able to complain. Now I'm far away from being a conspiracy theorist but something huge must be going on in the background for the Tories to suddenly drop a brick and do this.
