1996 Volvo 850 T5

Love these, remember being taken out by my dad in a bright yellow T5R he was testing. Brought a massive smile to my face when he planted it and was gutted he decided to get an Audi diesel.

Nice car, I know it well, but your deluded if you think the mods you have will give you 350bhp, hlm 304, ferrita and a cone filter will give you about 265bhp tops, as for the gearbox, there is no difference between a t5 and a t-5r. the 850r manual has a different box.

what boost pressure you running and what kind of controller?

i assume if its mapped the previous guy would have upped the boost
14 psi I believe, no idea on the controller I'm afraid.
Thought I recognised this from Pistonheads :)

I've always liked these.

I wouldn't be expecting any more than about 280bhp from those mods tbh
Yeah, I posted it on there as well :) Tbh 280bhp would still be "adequete"
I'll check my calendar when I'm back at uni, it's a bit far but I'd definitely like to get it on a dyno. If it makes less than what I was told, it's just an incentive for me to mod it further :p

The yellow ones are fantastic, pretty rare now as well.

You certainly do seem to know it well! I'll post up the results when I get it dyno'd and we can see which of you guys was closest!

Claymore knows his stuff :)
Thank you, have a pic of my 350bhp T5

also why would you only upgrade the front, the rear bios would be horribly out....

Braking is mostly done at the front, upgrading the rears is hardly worth doing.

these are great cars. I was at retro rides gathering a few months ago and there was one on the hill climb poping flames out of the exhaust constantly, looked fantastic. the build thread for the car is pretty inspiring too.

so u want 6 pot brakes on the front running between 330mm-345mm and leave the back standard?

like i said the bios would be horrible

standard fwd cars (according to google) use a 70%-30% braking bios, i wouldnt say 30% is "hardly worth doing". if your going to muck around with something as important as brakes, do it right!.

was looking at these as a wildcard when i was looking for something old ,cheap and fun that I could happily use daily . The insurance quotes I was getting where totally outrageous though

OP I'm curious how you can insure a modified car at 18.
To be honest, it suprised me as well. I can't, for instance, insure a standard focus ST or Mazda 3 MPS without a ridiculous quote. I do have a good postcode and driving record (been driving pretty much since my 17th birthday) which I suppose helps. I also declared a very low amount of mileage for this car as I won't be using it as my main car, and added my relatives as name drivers which reduced it signifigantly.
