Why, what are you going to do? Type words in a violent matter? Nutter!
A friend of mine is having to claim bankruptcy due to them applying charges for being over his overdraft every month, which he can't get out of. It started with him settling everything and being fine, and then they applied a late charge, throwing him over the overdraft, and since then spiralled further and further out of control.
Someone on the phone told him they'd freeze the charges....next month they charged him again. He called and they denied all knowledge. Branch visits, writing, speaking to managers....nothing.
Withdraw in cash. Close account.![]()
Same is happening to me & has been for a long time now. But minus the bankruptcy part. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks though I should be sorted. Unless they decide to throw loads of charges at me againThis is with Natwest.
Good luck to the OP would be nice to see what happened in the end...
The mistake will be discovered.
Of that happens now or in a years time - banks don't just lose £19k
So you're best bet would be to simpply contact them and let them sort it.
If they insist the money is yours then make sure you get it in writing
No the money will not earn the OP any interest.
Once the mistake is noticed, the £19k plus any interest will be removed from the account - not just the original £19k
Oh, and "not doing anything" could, in theory, still be seen as "handling stolen goods".
Unlikey to happen but at the end of the day this mistake will not go un-noticed, so better to get it all sorted out now rather than later.
Hope you are taking steps to reclaim any unfair/unreasonable bank charges rather than just coughing up...

I love compulsive liars on the internet. If there is anything more sad than telling people you know lies to impress them or make yourself feel better, it's lying to people you don't know on the internet.![]()
