2005 Spanish Grand Prix

Yup BAR this should be interesting. I don't see how the underweight problem can be anything over than cheating or them just being neglegant.

Er... basically they lied to the stewards when the cars were being checked. They emptied the tanks out and said okay now you can weigh the car. Then the stewards did that and took the car apart. Then they found the collector in the fuel tank (not cheating yet) which was still full of fuel (now they are cheating). Rules state that weight can be added to the car to bring it upto 600kg, but this wieght is not allowed to be removed from the car during the race. As full is used up, therefore it can be removed, and thus you are not allowed to use fuel as added weight.

Cheating is cheating.

I hope that all makes sense?

Nick Fry: It’s the harshness of the penalty, but its more than that. The fia have very nicely reduced their claim from fraud and deception to just lack of transparency. Which is good, we acknowledge that. But on the other hand, the severity of the penalty makes it looks like we’re guilty, which we’re not, which is why we’re fighting back so hard.

So BAR get massively punished for the FIA not having clear enough rules layed out... Yep, well done FIA... I don't know why but they seem intent on crippling the sport to the extent that it will die. Roll on the GPWC I say!

I think Honda's involvment in the GWPC has a LOT to do with it :( It stinks the whole sorry saga

Well, not to worry, the excitment that was stolen by BAR's banning should be replaced by a Jordan Minardi race, yay! Very close times from those 2!
Racing all the way down the field? I live in hope!

If they just banned the car what's Jenson going to do? Ask Williams if he can borrow a car for the race!?

BAR deserve all the get, F1 lives and dies by the rules. The most important thing is to field a legal car, if they can't do that then they don't deserve to race.

No he doesn't need to borrow a car from Frank....other teams that have had technical infringements have lost alll manufacturers points and as the driver is not directly involved in the design and build of the car they have been able to keep their points...remember the Ferrari bendy wings??

I think the FIA should have let BAR race but not be able to get any points (as thats what the teams care about is the manufacturers chamionship) and let the 2 drivers race for points
