Massa fuel load advantage gets ruled out by the fact it will take the red car several laps to get the tyres warmed up... Will be interesting to see if Heikki will be able to attack or even overtake Massa in the opening laps because of tyre temp differences between red and silver cars :p

Wasnt aware that the Ferraris were at a disadvantage so far this year because of "cold tyres".
Hasnt been so thusfar I think.

It's a common problem for Ferrari. Their car prefers hot tracks. Not cold tracks like what Spa is going to be tomorrow.

Likewise, the McLaren doesn't like hot tracks... as their car tends to overwork the tyres at such tracks leading to LH often limping back to the pits for a fresh set or McLaren adopting bizarre tyre choice and pit stop strategies in order to workaround the problem.

Wasnt Monaco cold and wet. Massa was fast during the first stint in Monaco before the SC came out on track.

Dunno. They were strong at Monaco but they were saying all year that they would be... apparently a lot of their pre-08 development was focused on improving their performance at Monaco specifically.

Just saying is all. It's pretty well known that the Ferrari doesn't like cold tracks. And also well known that the McLaren doesn't like hot tracks. We are talking 1/10 or two per lap here mind...

Not by the last race they weren't , rules should be rules, yer it was FM race but the lack of consistency is woeful but not surprising.

Oh I agree with you there, the way the FIA apply penalties is far from consistent. Although you could argue that they are entirely consistent with they way they dish out penalties if you know what I mean. ;)

I think this "hot/cold tyre" is a myth and not necessarily true personally. Even Ferrari discounted this a few races ago.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow ;) We finally have the makings of a good race.

Well Ron Dennis when asked about it evaded the question and replied with the standard PR "the team thsi the team that".

LH pre-qually hinted at the tyre warmup issue and reckoned that would give them the advantage. I strongly suspect that is why he is feeling so confident. If you know your tyres are going to be working better than your rivals then half your work is done.

Of course Ferrari deny it when it puts them at a disadvantage but they also are quick to praise it when it puts their rival at a disadvantage at a hot track ;)

Swings and roundabouts..
